J. Bally Pyramide 12 Ans
One taster called this "an interesting, light, round rum" to sip before heavier pours, and that fits. Twelve years in Martinique gives you roasted oak, tobacco, cocoa and dried fruit over the grassy agricole base, with a dry, spicy, slightly peppery finish. Several people jump from the 7-year to this and finally get it. A few still find it sharp and thin.
The community says- Roasted oak, tobacco
- Well-integrated alcohol
- Thin body

Aggregated from 128 community reviews.
Dry, woody agricole with tobacco and spice Most see a balanced, woody-spicy agricole that ages well past the younger Ballys. The catch: some find it dry, thin-bodied and a touch harsh, wishing for more punch.

8,2:On the nose, the first impression we get is a juicy sugarcane with yellow fruits, tea and roasted, toasted, a bit smoky wood notes like nuts, caramel, slightly sulphurous, then citrus and dried fruits. On aeration, very enticing confectionery arises with biscuits, pastry, spices like vanilla, cinammon and nutmeg, later maggi and more vegetal stuff with tobacco and flowery touch. 8,4:On the palate, the first attack is tasty with juicy sugarcane honey, spicy, earthy, flowery, then yellow and dried fruits, the wood is roasted with nuts, caramel, chocolate, vanilla. After resting the rum, vegetal aspect instills with tea, mint, a bit waxy, herbaceous, the fruits become candied, there is some citrus with an orange, some sulphurous touch. 8,3:The finish is long with dry, tannic and roasted wood, spicy, the sugarcane is still juicy and more vegetal as before with earthy, flowery notes, tea and grass.New fruits notes arrive, like cherry and passion fruit... Edit:26.7.25, 26.4.26

Weak, boring nose. Very spicy and unbalanced taste. Burns in the finish. I taste nothing of the 12 years.

This is a very nice rum and it's one of my everyday rums when relaxing after work.

Overall a too sharp and alcoholic Agricole in my opinion. I have tasted quite many Agricole’s and I like very many of them, but this one I really don’t can recommend. Great bottle, but the content........

Tasted blind and guessed Clement XO. At least the category was correct and the alcohol content was almost right 😉 The rum leaves a very good impression, nicely balanced, seems a little weak to connoisseurs used to cask strength and could do with a higher percentage. Interest has been aroused again, more Agricole rums will be in the glass soon!

Typical Martiniquais.woody and vanilla. It's not my favorite type of rum, but it's quite pleasant all in all.Edit: impressions confirmed on second tasting.

Hier haben wir einen echt guten Agricole. Etwas Vanille und Holz kann man auf jeden Fall riechen und schmecken. Ansonsten ist hier natürlich Agricole vorrangig zu schmecken, aber ist dieser Rum echt okay.

Once again a blind purchase, but one that doesn't fully disappoint me. Typical standard agricole. Rather light on the nose with the typical notes. Dry and thin in the mouth, lots of wood, spicy, slightly peppery. Not a highlight, but drinkable ;-)

A very good permanent range rum. Beautiful woody and toasty notes, accompanied by sweet spices (nutmeg, vanilla), tobacco and lovely yellow fruit notes. The vegetal and agricultural nose is less perceptible, in favor of a darker, greedier rum. The attack on the palate is dry but balanced. The sugarcane and agricultural notes are a little more present, but the smoky, woody and spicy flavors remain dominant. Fruit is more discreet on the palate. The alcohol is well integrated and the palate is well rounded. The finish is of respectable length, with some dried fruit, spices, oak and agricultural notes. A well-balanced, elegant, easy-drinking rum with excellent value for money and much to offer.

Not spectacular, a little low body, but a good everyday rum.

An interesting, light, round rum that I would include as an "appetizer" before drinking larger ABS rums. An interesting scent, where I could slightly smell the funky jamaica, but primarily I found sweetness (vanilla), fruit and chocolate. Taste - grass, wood, fruit, spice Finish - medium, balanced, cherry, wood, grass, fruit

Agricole commun, sans grand intérêt et trop réduit.

I can’t believe how much better this is than the 7 year version, which I was not impressed by at all. My hunch that Bally’s need a tremendous amount of age to come into their own is really born out here. Very excited to try even higher ageings from Bally now 👌
Review by ElReyTristan
A lovely accompaniment to a cigar, smooth and tobacco-scented.

Very good Rhum vieux from la Martinique. Strong flavour not affordable for every mouths. Personally I find some taste of licorice in it and I love it.

Au nez j'ai pas mal de souffre qui s'efface un peu plus en bouche pour laisser place a un bois tres noble. Tres bel équilibre

A good agricultural rum, very smooth, with well-integrated alcohol. I even think it could have accepted a slightly higher alcohol content. On the palate, woody, smoky flavors predominate. Good value for money.

Difficult and complex taste with many layers. An aquired taste.
