Velier Isautier Sugarcane Rum (Small Batch) 2006
The handful of tasters who've opened this land in roughly the same place: a good agricole where the cask does most of the talking. Pencil shavings, tobacco and dark chocolate lead, with grassy cane and hazelnut underneath and a menthol edge on the finish. At 59% it's punchy and dry — dig your nose deep in the glass and it opens. A couple call the wood too dominant.
