But underneath sits real Hampden: ester funk, overripe tropical fruit, papaya and pineapple, with a sherry-cask layer adding dark fruit and a touch of acidity. Edit: Ja, er hat immer noch die Nase vorne im Gegensatz zu seinem Bruder aus dem anderen Fass. Auch im CubaLibre macht er sich besser meiner Meinung nach. Für den Preis sind beide schon sehr gut. Dieser liegt im Gegensatz zu seinem Bruder einen Hauch vorne. Hier ist eher der leichte Esterfunk im Vordergrund als der Sherry. Denoch sind beide für den Preis mehr als in Ordnung.

Taugt mir eher nicht so. Säuerlich, süß und viel Klebstoff und zu Alkoholisch. Der PX ist hier deutlich harmonischer. Insgesamt einfach nicht angenehm zu trinken. Generell verstehe ich nicht warum man quasi weiße rums einfach 2 Jahre in Süßwein Fässer packt, aber ist auch einfach nicht mein Fall.

#5325 16.05.2025 Running some samples while watching a program about poaching rhino's. Nose Fresh, fruity, light wood, faint smoke, overripe, light cherry, light pineapple, spice, light ester. Palate Light oily, fresh, fruity, overripe, light banana, light cherry, raisin, light ester, wood, light roasted. Finish Medium to long, fresh, wood, fruits, light banana, faint chocolate, faint smoke. Empty glass Chocolate, light vanilla, light banana, light raisin.

Zwar nicht ganz mein Geschmack, aber deutlich besser als die PX Schwesterabfüllung. Zwar immer noch (zu sehr) Sherry forward aber dafür nicht ganz so süß und stimmiger.

A pleasant Hampden with a distinctive sherry finish. All the classic markers are present, with papaya dominating the fruit notes. Unfortunately, the rum has a bit too much acidity for my taste. Still, the value for money is really good for the RP.

Einerseits gefällig, andererseits sehr dominante Einschläge vom Süsswein-Fass. Am Gaumen recht adstringierend, fruchtig, erneut dunkle, schwere Früchte, die Komplexität bleibt dafür eher überschaubar. Schöner Rum, dem aber das gewisse Etwas abgeht.

Ces jamaicains avec un finish Sherry ne sont définitivement pas pour moi. Ici, il est présent du nez à la finale. En arrière plan, on a un Hampden très fruité et funky. Le sherry amène du sucre et une amertume pas des plus agréables à mon sens. Ça reste bon.

Ich geh mal gegen den Trend und fand das PX Fass besser. Nase fand ich etwas eindimensionaler und am Gaumen viel Schärfe. Das junge Alter war hier viel deutlicher erkennbar. Für Hampden Puristen wahrscheinlich eher passend. Ich würde das PX Finish nehmen.
