04.10.2025 Retasting at the Nobilis Warehouse Tasting #3 ----------- #4809 11.08.2024 Enjoying some samples at home. Nose Fresh, balanced, light rubber, faint tar, wood, fruits, faint smoke, pineapple. Palate Oily, balanced, light tar, light rubber, light earthy, faint smoke, dried fruit, light cherry. Finish Medium to long, wood, light smoke, light rubber, light tar, light cherry. The empty glass has a faint herbal note as well as light leather.

Good 1998 Caroni, typical aromas of tar, rubber, pleasant oak, caramel and vanilla sweetness, plus spices, roasted barrel influences and subtle hints of fruit. Alcohol is powerful, but overall an archetypal continental Caroni.

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing at the time of its greatest glory rum, which was added at a ratio of 1:10 to the naval blend. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000, the distillery ceased production and closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who took a liking to the rum because of its special taste. And the interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of "you need to try before you die" rums. I recommend it, Caroni is a truly unique rum.
