Flensburg Rum Company Thailand (Special Bottling for 12th German Rumfest)
Chocolate, coconut and caramel with ripe banana — several tasters called it "banana split to drink" and swore blind it was a Foursquare, not Thailand. The nose is the highlight: oak, vanilla, roasted spice. On the palate it turns hot and rough at 60.3%, with pepper, bitterness and unintegrated alcohol. A drop of water and some air tame it noticeably.
The community says- Beautiful, layered nose
- Chocolate-coconut-banana

Aggregated from 52 community reviews.
Foursquare-style profile, gorgeous nose, hot palate A genuine surprise most tasters enjoyed, often mistaking it for a Bajan Foursquare. The catch: it's rough and hot on the palate, with the alcohol needing better integration.

Five months ago, after tasting a sample of RX15460, I wrote: "I assume that Thai aged rum is on the rise and that we can still expect a lot from the country." Today I can only confirm this: What a great, mysterious rum, what a positive surprise! Since nothing is known about the rum apart from the country of origin, I can happily and gratefully speculate on the basis of my perception: The rum seems very old to me, more like 24 than 12 years. On the nose and palate, I clearly perceive ripe cherries and heavy, rather sweet red wine - perhaps it has matured for 24 years in a Thai red wine barrel? 😉 As I said, just imaginative speculation. But the fact is: this is a rum that also meets the expectations of advanced rum drinkers. Try it! But beware: there were only 72 bottles ... Unique. Update 2024-10-19: Unusual experiment: mysterious RX16506 vs. renowned RX18937 😳 Why? Because I tasted the RX16506 the day before yesterday with Berlin rum friends and we agreed that the rum could have been a Foursquare blind. So I thought I'd compare it with a real Foursquare 😉. Well, and what can I say: The Thai one is excellent! It's even more present on the nose than the Foursquare. On the palate, it really comes down to the form of the day or personal preference: the Thailänder is strong and spicy with lots of chocolate, while the Absolutio impresses with its smoothness and fine port influence. For today I would say: a draw, both 87 points - bämm! And no, unfortunately I have nothing left of the Thailander. 🤷🏽♂️😉

Very surprising. Blindly, I would have guessed Foursquare. Lots of wood, chocolate, coffee and some plum. Has lots of bitter notes and seems to have been in the barrel for a very long time.

Update: I have now opened my bottle and tasted it again. Yes, the nose is really wonderful and makes this rum. A fine column profile with lots of oak, vanilla, caramel, coconut and banana. The palate is no longer so round but rather sharp and rough with a pronounced bitter note. But all in all very good. I go up to 8.2. Nose alone would be a very high 8. Palate a medium 7. Nice column rum with wood, caramel, vanilla, spice and also some coconut and banana. Still a little sharp and impetuous on the palate, but great for the price.

Edit: I like it much better as a mixer than pure. Can be used both in the MaiTai and as a CubaLibre I was actually expecting more funk and something a bit more unusual. It's still pretty wild and boisterous. This was another one where I tried to experiment a little with adding extra water. I have to admit that it is a lot more pleasing and becomes a solid, tasty sipper. This time there's an extra point after the decimal point for the funny label and the unusual idea.

I'm a bit confused? That's supposed to be Thailand? Would I immediately put it blindly in the direction of Barbados foursquare or possibly Venezuela? Lots of chocolate, coconut and banana caramel, quasi banana split to drink. Overall very tasty but I don't quite understand the product😆 The alcohol is also surprisingly well integrated! And probably the coolest label in a long time, the tuktuk is mega😆🛺! I'd love a bottle of that! Probably my Thailand reference so far, even if I would never have blindly put it in Thailand! 😆🛺🇹🇭

#5234 14.04.2025 running some samples at home while listening to some Goa Psy Trance. Nose Fresh, light wood, faint smoke, light coconut, light citrus, spice, faint caramel. Palate Medium spicy, fresh, light wood, coconut, light citrus, light chocolate, prunes. Finish Medium to long, medium spicy, fresh, light wood, light chocolate, light prunes, light coconut. Empty glass Coconut, prunes, spice, light caramel, chocolate. Surprisingly good rum especially when looking at the price tag.

Tasted at the 12th GRF Good rum, but I was expecting something exotic. Instead, you get a well-balanced rum here.

Echt lecker! Gerne mehr aus Thailand mit dieser Qualität.
Review by Skyfly
Review by F.L.O.
Review by Jan Lu

Review by DosenZorn
Review by Portman

Interessantes Profil. Aber noch etwas zu wild am Gaumen.
