Don't come here for a classic Hampden funk bomb — the PX sherry runs the show. Raisins, red fruit and sweet wine sit up front, with the ester and glue tucked underneath and a peppery, oily palate. Most tasters find it surprisingly balanced and easy to sip for a 2-year-old, though a few wish the Jamaican side wasn't so muffled. Great flavor spike in a Mai Tai too.

Edit: Now that the bottle has been open for a while and probably got a bit more air from the previous split, I actually find it quite drinkable. For the price, it's already very good as a sipper. You definitely can't deny the sherry influence here. All in all, however, a pleasant sipper. I don't mind the sherry, it's a bit of a change. Although I still prefer his colleague.

8,4:On the nose, esters, rubber, funky, fermented, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, dried currants, raisins, red fruits, roasted wood notes like nuts, chocolate, smoky, spicy, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, molasses is grassy, citrus and papaya arise, caramel, pastry, leather, allspice, some copper and iodine. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is funky with esters, burnt, chemical at first, but round with sweet PX notes, fermented overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, dried fruits like raisins, later apricot and prunes, citrus fruits, some candied, roasted wood notes like caramel, pastry, leather, spicy with baking spices peppery, smoky, molasses is thick, dark with licorice, flowery, grassy, earthy with tobacco. 8,4:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, sherry barrel is obvious, complemented by Jamaican funk, esters, as notes from the palate linger on, darker and smokier.

Finish/PX aging is very dominat with PX sweetness taking the lead on the nose as well as on the palate. This is very approachable and enjoyable, but if I‘m looking for the PX taste, I‘d just buy a bottle sherry.

#5968 17.11.2025 Enjoying a few samples watching my wife pack for her Japan trip. Nose Fresh, light ester, light wood, spice, light glue, citrus, overripe, banana, light sherry. Palate Fresh, oily, light wood, light ester, fruity, overripe, light pineapple, medium spicy, light sherry, faint polish. Finish Medium to long, fresh, oily, light wood, faint chocolate, citrus. Empty glass Banana, light chocolate, light clove, light polish.

Als würde man Rosinen in Rum jahrelang einlegen und die Rosinen danach auspressen und dazu etwas Bananen Split 😄. Extrem intensive Sherry Noten mit genau der richtigen Menge funkyness. Leckerer als ich erwartet hätte, da mir sonst Sherry echt zu dominant ist, was hier auch der Fall ist aber irgendwie harmoniert es hier echt gut.

Schmeckt leider eher wie Rum mit PX Sherry statt Rum aus dem PX Fass. Das Fass war wohl noch mehr als “restfeucht” … sehr schade. Etwas zu süß (und da bin ich sehr empfindlich), aber sonst eigentlich ganz gut. Sicher ein schöner Flavour Spike in Cocktails oder zum aufpeppen einer Jamaica/Hampden infinity bottle bzw. Zum blenden mit einem normalen HLCF

Bin meistens kein Fan von Sherry Finish bei Hampdens muss aber zugeben, dass mir diese Abfüllung erstaunlich gut gefällt. Die Aromenverteilung Holz - Frucht - Süße ist sehr gut ausbalanciert und der Alkohol gut eingebunden. Hab noch ne Flasche, sodass er zeitnah mal im Mai Tai probiert wird

Im Vergleich zum Pagos deutlich größer Sherry-Einfluss. Wer starke PX-Reifungen mag kommt hier voll auf die Kosten. Sehr süffig.

Klar auf der süssen Seite unterwegs, insgesamt aber in Balance und durchaus gefällig. Die schwere Süssweinaromatik ist sehr präsent, insgesamt kostet das einerseits vermutlich einiges an Komplexität, macht das Trinken aber andererseits entspannt möglich. Für zwei Jahre ausgesprochen solide.

Krasses Zeug, macht wirklich abgefahrene MaiTais und lässt sich auch easy Pur genießen. Dieser Rum hier schmeckt, als hätte der Kröger Hampden in eines seiner feucht fröhlich nassen Sherryfässer gepackt :P Und das Ergebnis finde ich echt gut gelungen! Absolut Traumhaftes Plv - gabs aber leider nur in begrenzten Mengen live im Rumstore eures Vertrauens 😇

PX-Einfluss sehr deutlich, liegt dominant über dem eigentlichen Rum, der dadurch sehr gedämpft wirkt. Wer was einfaches sucht, kann hierzu greifen, aber es wirkt für mich wie Hampden mit angezogener Handbremse

Le sherry est la première odeur qui me vient au nez. Puis c'est un nez bien jamaicain qui prend le relai : funky, boisé, fruit très mûr. On sent que l'alcool sera présent. En bouche, c'est puissant (l'alcool est trop présent pour moi), boisé. Le sherry a amené beaucoup de sucrosité (un peu trop à mon goût). C'est très poivré également. Et on retrouve la trame jamaïcaine présente au nez. Finale où le bois domine et qui apporte une note de saumure. Sympathique mais px bien trop présent pour moi.

Der PX Einfluß ist sehr hoch. Habe den Rum jetzt ca. 6 Wochen regelmäßig im Glas und kann sagen, das es definitiv ein leckerer süffiger Easy Sipper ist, der aber nicht zu lange um Glas stehen sollte, da der Fasseinfluss irgendwann überhand nimmt. Ich mag den Rum. Wer das klassische Hampden Profil sucht ist hier evtl. falsch. Wer Bock hat sich mit Fasseinfluss zu beschäftigen wird seine Freude haben.

Dritter Anlauf, jetzt muss mal ne Bewertung her. Nase: Ojo, Ester und Sherry – ist ja jetzt auch nix Neues mehr. Hier allerdings mit Sherry auf 11 gedreht. Angeblich waren ja auch noch "versehentlich" 3l Sherry im kleinen Octave Fass verblieben, also fast schon ein Blend. Die Kombination Sherry+Ester funktioniert mal wieder ganz gut, auch wenn's langsam ein wenig langweilig wird. Ordentlich rote Früchte und im Hintergrund der Klebstoff. Der Abgang ist allerdings bäh, der hat so eine komische Käsefüße/alte Socken Note. Das macht ihn für mich fast ungenießbar. Da scheine ich aber der Einzige zu sein, der das hat. Extra drei Anläufe genommen, aber diese fast modrige Note war jetzt jedes mal dabei. Nase und Gaumen sind noch auf Kurs, der Abgang ruiniert den Rum für mich.
