Berry Bros & Rudd Diamond Guyana Rum 2013
Made for people who like their Diamond rum dry, woody and cask-strength, not sugary. Expect dried fruit and prune, old leather, licorice and a medicinal, lightly smoky edge over varnished oak. At 63.5% it needs air — several tasters found it opened up nicely with a good rest in the glass. A couple felt the smoke fell a bit flat.

Dry, woody Diamond with licorice and leather Most tasters land around "well balanced" once rested: dried fruit, licorice, leather and old wood, with a long oaky finish. A few were let down by the smoky side.

Blind taste. Rather disappointed by the smokiness

#4148 LMDW picked a nice cask here. The price is a bit high but overall OK I think. A well balanced rum once rested for a good while. Nice dried fruits mixed with spices and some caramel. I like the medicinal note and licorice in the profile because it somehow freshens it up. Draws really nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some smoke and chocolate to it.
