TCRL South Pacific Fiji 2014
If you want to try Fiji funk without paying single-cask money, this is a good doorway. Loads of glue and acetone on the nose, then overripe banana, citrus and a smoky, slightly leathery palate. Several tasters compare it to a young Jamaican or Hampden. It's not deep, and the finish runs short, but the ester rush is real and the ABV sits well.

- Tropical banana notes

How does TCRL South Pacific Fiji 2014 taste?
Aggregated from 152 community reviews.
Funky, glue-forward young Fiji sipper A well-liked, wallet-friendly Fiji: funky esters, glue and tropical fruit that many call their daily sipper. Common gripes are a short finish and that it's young and one-dimensional.

One of the best Fiji so far... Simply good

Here is another rum that I haven't drunk for a long time. Solvent is just as clearly recognizable here as tropical fruits and bananas. I can highly recommend this rum from Fiji. It could just be a little more intense
Review by Gregor
Very nice round Fiji. Beautiful fruity tones on the nose with dark tones of caramel and roasted malt. The same picture in the taste. Harmonious and round. The price is also right, which is why I give it a clear recommendation to buy

A light-colored rum. A nose of very ripe pineapple and banana with glue and a pleasant floral note. The palate is smooth, with ripe tropical fruit. The finish is rather short, leaving a salty, vanilla note. Not a very exciting rum, but well-made and pleasant to sip. The empty glass hesitates between glue and fruit.

Remains in my memory as the first opener for me. Great bottling 🇫🇯 Say a wistful farewell. 🥲 I treated myself to this rum as one of the first on my trip to the New World and tried it again today. In fact, I still like it and I even feel it tastes better. The wild note with lots of esters and glue is still there, but today it tastes much rounder to me, which of course may also be due to my own taste development. Lots of tropical fruit, some marzipan, honey and a slightly salty, smoky finish. Such a great, fairly young Fiji is a sight to behold and will hopefully soon find a worthy successor.

Positively surprised for the price & age. Funky at the start with lots of fruits & sweets to follow up. Not very complex but good sipper and great entry to Fiji. Unfortunately the finish is rather short and the rum a bit one-dimensional
Review by lukasdrinkinghabits
The nose is very intense, very funky and very youthful. In the mouth it is surprisingly round and mild thanks to the short time in the barrel. The flavors remain relatively constant, with a slightly tannic bitterness added in the finish. A great young rum that convinces with its mad presence.

Very estery, fermented, vinegar and of course all kinds of fruit on the nose. Too young and one-sided in my opinion. Longer storage would certainly have done it good, in this state it's too unrounded for me. And the fermented/musty component in the finish is a bit unpleasant for me.
Review by Christoph
Pure citrus from nose with finish. In addition, there is a honey sweetness in the taste and burnt sugar in the finish. The good taste and finish is initially nullified by very penetrating glue smells, which, however, quickly fades.

Very pleasant on the nose. Very intense palate. Too bad er the finish, a bit short. (PS: the rating, like impressions, are purely personal)

Exactly what I'm looking for when I want a funky high ester with pronounced aroma, great taste and long aftertaste and at a reasonable price. This bottle will be quickly emptied

I don't know what got me the first time I tasted it, but I really like it the second time! Very, very tasty! And something different, especially the nose is great. Only the taste is a little too bitter for me.
Review by Vincent D
It's full of solvents and overripe fruit. It's fruity, sweet and delicious. On the palate, it's disappointing. Glue, solvents, fruit, rotten banana. It's nice, but you're left wanting more. The nose was very promising, but the taste takes a back seat. Still, well above average. 2nd tasting: very marked by sugar this time. Wow, it's very sweet. And not as disappointing as the first tasting, on the contrary. It's greedy, yet young and spirited. Still varnish, still solvent. It's actually really cool. Tasted again this evening. Just as cool!

28.11.2025 Retasting this rum and it is not a bad one. Price to quality is pretty good. ---------- Not a bad rum actually. A nice surprise especially when looking at the price tag. Fruity with some spices and nice wood. Good ABV integration and some light polish, rubber and glue. In the empty glass i can get light smoke and some leather.

The strength of this rum lies in its naked and pure spirit character. 100% potstill. Not much wood and cask character at all. High Esther, fruity and austere. I shared this with many new rum enthusiast to let them taste a good spirit driven young rum.
