The mint hits first and it does not let go — several tasters call this a full-on menthol bomb, like drinking concentrated peppermint tea rather than chewing leaves. Around it sit red berries, passion fruit, mango and old oak, with black tea and a floral, medicinal edge. At 63.5% the alcohol is a little sharp for some. Bold, angular, and short on subtlety but a lot of fun.

Mal wieder ein Paradebeispiel wie geil tdl Trinidad Rums einfach sind. Floral frisch und richtig würzig. geil! Passionsfrucht, Rosenwasser, Menthol und karamellisierter Pfirsich, sowie etwas Piment und Schokolade. Im Gegensatz zum "lila" Vertreter (bottled for Perola - Germany) für Deutschland ist der hier deutlich floraler. Bomben Stoff.

Dieser CDI (und der Germany exclusive) gehört zu den aller ersten 2003er TDLs mit der prominenten Menthol-Note, ich habe die lange gejagt und freue mich sehr ihn probieren zu können. Das Profil ist spannungsreich: Einerseits heftige Mentholnoten und gerade frisch aus der Flasche einige Lösungsmittel, dann aber nicht die schweren, dunklen Aromen, wie sie die 2001er TDLs haben, sondern eine sehr fruchtige Facette. Das Aromenspektrum ist sehr tropisch mit prominenter Passionsfrucht und Mango, nicht so sehr das gelbe Steinobst, des Caksus CDI 2003. Der Mund setzt das Profil weiter fort, mit dem typischen Tee und etwas mehr würziger Tiefe als ich bei der Nase erwartet hätte. Der Alkohol ist super eingebunden. Der Abgang ist wie oft bei den TDLs sehr lang, frisch und minzig. Ein toller Rum, zum UVP mit grandiosen PLV.

Complex, multi-layered, intense. A real bomb! Rum the way I like it. Powerfully minty and with a long finish. For me, it moves in two vintage worlds (01/03) but with a much better balance. Cool bottling.

Eine richtige Minzbombe/Menthol-Bombe haben wir hier. Im Vergleich zum Spirit Gallery TDL kommt dieser 2003er Kandidat frischer und noch etwas "mentholiger/minziger" daher. Das geht etwas zu Lasten der Komplexität, denn am Gaumen sind diese Aromen so intensiv, dass es kaum Platz für andere Aromen gibt. Ich mag das Minzige sehr gerne, daher gefällt mir auch diese Abfüllung sehr gut.

Eigentlich eine schöne T.D.L Abfüllung. Viele kräftige typische Minze- und Mentholnoten. Der Geschmack hält schön lange an. Das einzige was mich daran stört, ist dass der Alkohol nicht ganz so gut eingebunden ist. Leider wird er bitterer je mehr er atmet. Sonst wäre eine bessere Bewertung möglich gewesen.

#5173 28.03.2025 Running through some samples at home. Nose Fresh, balanced, light wood, light mint, fruits, mango, light citrus, light caramel. Palate Fresh, light oily, light wood, faint roasted, fruits, light caramel, light banana, light citrus, light mint. Finish Long, round, balanced, light oily, light wood, fruits, light mint. Empty glass Caramel, light chocolate, spice, light mint, light medicinal. ABV is pretty well integrated and I love the mint note.

Sehr fruchtiger und minziger 2003 TDL. Viel Frucht mit Gelben Früchten, die am Gaumen dann auch etwas roter und tropischer werden. minze an der Nase, die mentholiger am Gaumen wird und aber auch eine nicht ganz ideale Alkoholintegration am Gaumen. Trotzdem super Rum

Ausdrucksstarker TDL mit intensiver Frucht, durchzogen von kühler Minze und feiner Würze. Der Geschmack entwickelt sich vielschichtig, bleibt dabei klar strukturiert und präzise. Eine charaktervolle Abfüllung, die das Profil von Trinidad überzeugend präsentiert.

Nach etlichen TDLs ist dieser wohl der mit den intensivsten Minz- & Mentholnoten. Daneben dominieren sehr frische floralen Aromen und diverse Früchte; Holz und Gewürze sind im Hintergrund wahrzunehmen.

Verkostet gegen TDL RC Ed. 44 / RX19670, TDL RA 2002 / RX7783 und TDL RdL 2002 / 15565. Alle 4 Rum durften ca. eine halbe Stunde atmen. Nase: Der RC 44 ist in der Nase etwas verschlossen, dezent nimmt man aber helle Früchte und ganz leicht Minze war. Der CDI 2003 ist noch verschlossener, einzig etwas Mirabelle oder Pfirsich nehme ich war. Beim RA 2002 finde ich ganz leicht Karamell. Der RdL 2002 ist ebenfalls ziemlich verschlossen, hier finde ich nur ganz leicht helle gelbe Früchte. Gaumen: Der RC 44 ist für einen 2002er am Gaumen vergleichsweise krautig und bitter und weniger süß. Die hellen gelben Früchte sind etwas im Hintergrund und dafür hat er mehr Kräuter. Etwas Wasser hilft ihm nicht unbedingt, sich weiter zu öffnen. Der CDI 2003 ist im Vergleich floraler, etwas fruchtiger und süßer und auch weniger bitter. Auch der CDI 2003 wird mit etwas Wasser nicht unbedingt besser, aber süffiger. Beim RA 2002 finde ich im ersten Moment leicht Karamell, dahinter dann helle Früchte und eine leichte Bitterkeit. Mit etwas Wasser öffnet er sich noch etwas und wird süffiger. Eine schöne, ausgewogene Kombination aus hellen gelben Früchten und Minze und dazu im Hintergrund leicht Karamell, Dreck und eine krautige Bitterkeit. Der RdL 2002 ist vom Profil her dem RA 2002 sehr ähnlich, aber für mich noch ein gutes Stück komplexer und ausgefeilter, facettenreicher. Alle Aromen des RA sind vorhanden, aber hier noch einmal auf ein höheres Level gehoben. Etwas Wasser hilft, das ganze Spektrum an Aromen noch etwas besser wahrnehmen zu können. Einfach ein richtig toller Rum! Abgang: Der Abgang ist bei allen 4 TDL in etwa gleichlang, wobei beim CDI 2003 etwas mehr die Minze anhält, beim RA das Karamell und beim RdL das volle Aromenspektrum nachhallt. Ranking: 1. La Compagnie des Indes a acquis pas mal de TDL et celui-ci est un parfait exemple de la qualité de la sélection. Le nez est une symphonie de fruits, allant des fruits tropicaux aux agrumes, en passant par les fruits rouges (cerise, cassis) et la pêche. Suivent les notes fraîches de menthol et une brisure florale ainsi que des épices qui relèvent un peu le profil (poivre, piment, vanille). Le bois n’est pas si présent que cela. Un nez qui va à ravir. En bouche, le TDL devient plus astringent, tannique, chaud et amer. Les épices effectuent une percée dans le palais, provoquant une triangulaire avec les saveurs mentholées et florales d’un côté (avec du thé noir en prime) et les innombrables fruits de l’autre (pêche, cassis et fruits tropicaux notamment). Le profil est toujours très goûtu mais plus puissant qu’il ne laissait présager, l’alcool aurait pu être un peu mieux intégré ici. La finale est très longue et prolonge l’amertume, l’astringence et les tanins du palais. Le profil devient plus médicinal, mentholé et herbacé sur le thé noir mais conserve la vivacité des épices (poivre, piment). Les fruits rouges, exotiques, la pêche et les agrumes permettent de garder une forme de gourmandise et d’exubérance sur ce profil intense et presque tendu. Un TDL lourd et captivant, très marqué par les arômes mais qui manque un peu de subtilité par rapport aux autres cuvées de l’embouteilleur sur le même Millésime.

Typischer, kraftvoller TDL mit dem gängigen Profil aus den Post-2000er Jahren: Mango, Pfirsich, Minze, dazu in diesem Falle einiges an Holz sowie auch präsenter Alkohol. An sich aromatisch überzeugend, aber doch mit etwas zu griffigem Biss.

Profil très cool cmsur ce TDL dont le nez boisé tire sur des notes de fruits : cerise, agrumes. Peut-être une odeur de Calvados. En bouche, c'est intense : poivré, alcooleux. Mais très agréable malgré cela. Une touche mentholée enrobe le boisé et les fruits qui se dégagent. Finale mentholée. Longue à souhait. Je lui préfère son grand frère de 2 ans de plus sorti pour Caksus par CDI. C'est le même profil dont l'alcool s'est beaucoup assagi. Mais ça reste un très bon rhum.

Le nez est explosif sur ce qu'on aime chez cette cuvée 2003 bien particulière de chez TDL. Le menthol est puissant, les fruits (cassis, fruits rouges) aussi. Le bouquet est infiniment plus floral avec du thé noir, des herbes coupées, de l'eucalyptus. Le chêne très vieux enveloppe le tout et on retrouve beaucoup de tabac façon boîte à cigare dans le fond du verre. La bouche est un séisme de menthol. Mais c'est plus comme si on buvait un thé à la menthe poivrée concentré, plutôt que d'avoir des feuilles de menthe plein la bouche. Le boisé est encore très agréable. Le tout est ample et généreux, floral. Le cassis laisse la place à de la framboise écrasée. La finale est interminable sur cette menthe et ce boisé, avec un soupçon de phénol. Encore une référence parmi les TDL 2003.

Was ein Kraftpaket. Auch wenn diese Abfüllung kein Komplexitätsmonster ist und der Alkohol am Gaumen etwas stechend, macht diese Abfüllung einfach Spaß. Die volle Ladung Minze und Menthol. Dazu floral und medizinisch. Definitiv kein Einsteiger Rum. Mir gefällt es sehr gut und auch im Vergleich mit länger gelagerten TDLs aus dem Jahrgang wirklich spannend. Im Blend mit der RA TDL 2002 Abfüllung auch eine Wucht. Ich finde es geil. Eckig und Kantig.

Compagnie des Indes T.D.L 16 ans Nez : L’ouverture s’exprime sur de fines notes mentholées, apportant une fraîcheur immédiate. Les fruits jaunes s’installent ensuite, accompagnés d’une touche boisée délicate, subtilement vanillée. Un nez équilibré. Bouche : La première gorgée dévoile une belle intensité fruitée, sur les fruits jaunes bien mûrs. Rapidement, le menthol prend de l’ampleur et enveloppe le palais avec puissance. En seconde bouche, le boisé s’affirme davantage, apportant structure et complexité. L’ensemble reste cohérent, porté par une trame mentholée persistante. Finale : Longue, persistante, évolutive. Les notes boisées et mentholées se fondent dans une douceur fruitée, laissant une empreinte fraîche et aromatique qui s’attarde longuement. Conclusion : Un rhum brut et profond, au caractère affirmé. Terriblement expressif, il marie fraîcheur mentholée, fruit gourmand et structure boisée.
