CDI T.D.L Trinidad 2003
The mint hits first and it does not let go — several tasters call this a full-on menthol bomb, like drinking concentrated peppermint tea rather than chewing leaves. Around it sit red berries, passion fruit, mango and old oak, with black tea and a floral, medicinal edge. At 63.5% the alcohol is a little sharp for some. Bold, angular, and short on subtlety but a lot of fun.

Komplex, vielschichtig, intensiv. Eine Richtige Bombe! Rum wie ich ihn mag. Kraftvoll minzig und mit langem Abgang. Bewegt sich für mich in zwei Jahrgangswelten (01/03) jedoch mit wesentlich besserer Balance. Coole Abfüllung.

Dieser CDI (und der Germany exclusive) gehört zu den aller ersten 2003er TDLs mit der prominenten Menthol-Note, ich habe die lange gejagt und freue mich sehr ihn probieren zu können. Das Profil ist spannungsreich: Einerseits heftige Mentholnoten und gerade frisch aus der Flasche einige Lösungsmittel, dann aber nicht die schweren, dunklen Aromen, wie sie die 2001er TDLs haben, sondern eine sehr fruchtige Facette. Das Aromenspektrum ist sehr tropisch mit prominenter Passionsfrucht und Mango, nicht so sehr das gelbe Steinobst, des Caksus CDI 2003. Der Mund setzt das Profil weiter fort, mit dem typischen Tee und etwas mehr würziger Tiefe als ich bei der Nase erwartet hätte. Der Alkohol ist super eingebunden. Der Abgang ist wie oft bei den TDLs sehr lang, frisch und minzig. Ein toller Rum, zum UVP mit grandiosen PLV.

Verkostet gegen TDL RC Ed. 44 / RX19670, TDL RA 2002 / RX7783 und TDL RdL 2002 / 15565. Alle 4 Rum durften ca. eine halbe Stunde atmen. Nase: Der RC 44 ist in der Nase etwas verschlossen, dezent nimmt man aber helle Früchte und ganz leicht Minze war. Der CDI 2003 ist noch verschlossener, einzig etwas Mirabelle oder Pfirsich nehme ich war. Beim RA 2002 finde ich ganz leicht Karamell. Der RdL 2002 ist ebenfalls ziemlich verschlossen, hier finde ich nur ganz leicht helle gelbe Früchte. Gaumen: Der RC 44 ist für einen 2002er am Gaumen vergleichsweise krautig und bitter und weniger süß. Die hellen gelben Früchte sind etwas im Hintergrund und dafür hat er mehr Kräuter. Etwas Wasser hilft ihm nicht unbedingt, sich weiter zu öffnen. Der CDI 2003 ist im Vergleich floraler, etwas fruchtiger und süßer und auch weniger bitter. Auch der CDI 2003 wird mit etwas Wasser nicht unbedingt besser, aber süffiger. Beim RA 2002 finde ich im ersten Moment leicht Karamell, dahinter dann helle Früchte und eine leichte Bitterkeit. Mit etwas Wasser öffnet er sich noch etwas und wird süffiger. Eine schöne, ausgewogene Kombination aus hellen gelben Früchten und Minze und dazu im Hintergrund leicht Karamell, Dreck und eine krautige Bitterkeit. Der RdL 2002 ist vom Profil her dem RA 2002 sehr ähnlich, aber für mich noch ein gutes Stück komplexer und ausgefeilter, facettenreicher. Alle Aromen des RA sind vorhanden, aber hier noch einmal auf ein höheres Level gehoben. Etwas Wasser hilft, das ganze Spektrum an Aromen noch etwas besser wahrnehmen zu können. Einfach ein richtig toller Rum! Abgang: Der Abgang ist bei allen 4 TDL in etwa gleichlang, wobei beim CDI 2003 etwas mehr die Minze anhält, beim RA das Karamell und beim RdL das volle Aromenspektrum nachhallt. Ranking: 1. RdL 2002 / 89 Punkte 2. RA 2002 / 87 Punkte 3. CDI 2003 / 86 Punkte 4. RC 44 / 85 Punkte

Once again a prime example of how great tdl Trinidad rums simply are. Floral, fresh and really spicy. awesome! In contrast to the "purple" representative for Germany, this one is more floral but the alcohol content is not quite as well integrated. Still bomb stuff.

Sehr fruchtiger und minziger 2003 TDL. Viel Frucht mit Gelben Früchten, die am Gaumen dann auch etwas roter und tropischer werden. minze an der Nase, die mentholiger am Gaumen wird und aber auch eine nicht ganz ideale Alkoholintegration am Gaumen. Trotzdem super Rum

Eigentlich eine schöne T.D.L Abfüllung. Viele kräftige typische Minze- und Mentholnoten. Der Geschmack hält schön lange an. Das einzige was mich daran stört, ist dass der Alkohol nicht ganz so gut eingebunden ist. Leider wird er bitterer je mehr er atmet. Sonst wäre eine bessere Bewertung möglich gewesen.

Profil très cool cmsur ce TDL dont le nez boisé tire sur des notes de fruits : cerise, agrumes. Peut-être une odeur de Calvados. En bouche, c'est intense : poivré, alcooleux. Mais très agréable malgré cela. Une touche mentholée enrobe le boisé et les fruits qui se dégagent. Finale mentholée. Longue à souhait. Je lui préfère son grand frère de 2 ans de plus sorti pour Caksus par CDI. C'est le même profil dont l'alcool s'est beaucoup assagi. Mais ça reste un très bon rhum.
