CDI T.D.L Trinidad 2003

The mint hits first and it does not let go — several tasters call this a full-on menthol bomb, like drinking concentrated peppermint tea rather than chewing leaves. Around it sit red berries, passion fruit, mango and old oak, with black tea and a floral, medicinal edge. At 63.5% the alcohol is a little sharp for some. Bold, angular, and short on subtlety but a lot of fun.

The community says
  • Huge menthol note
  • Fruity and floral
  • But: Alcohol a bit sharp

How does CDI T.D.L Trinidad 2003 taste?

Aggregated from 56 community reviews.

Intense menthol-and-fruit Trinidad at cask strength Loved by TDL fans for its huge mint and menthol and long, fresh finish. The recurring gripe: alcohol integration is a touch rough, and it can turn bitter with air.

Perfect for

Fans of mint-forward, cask-strength Trinidad TDL

Less suitable for

Beginners and anyone put off by high ABV or heavy menthol

Complex, multi-layered, intense. A real bomb! Rum the way I like it. Powerfully minty and with a long finish. For me, it moves in two vintage worlds (01/03) but with a much better balance. Cool bottling.

Delicious mint T.D.L. But quite beastly on the palate compared to other casks from 2003.

#5173 28.03.2025 Running through some samples at home. Nose Fresh, balanced, light wood, light mint, fruits, mango, light citrus, light caramel. Palate Fresh, light oily, light wood, faint roasted, fruits, light caramel, light banana, light citrus, light mint. Finish Long, round, balanced, light oily, light wood, fruits, light mint. Empty glass Caramel, light chocolate, spice, light mint, light medicinal. ABV is pretty well integrated and I love the mint note.

Angostura is famous for a bottle most people never drink neat. The bitters house founded in 1824 became Trinidad's only rum distillery, and its arm Trinidad Distillers makes a clean, column-distilled, Spanish-style rum unlike the heavy funk of Jamaica or Guyana. The same plant still guards the secret recipe for the world's most famous cocktail bitters.
