Carrere Montebello LA RENCONTRE (Chassagne Montrachet) 2010
The white-Burgundy cask is the twist here: this Guadeloupe agricole tastes less like grassy cane and more like old Grappa from wine barrels. Expect dark chocolate, sour cherry and a tangy citrus edge, with tobacco and spice on the finish. Several tasters found it genuinely elegant and easy to sip — most just felt the price was steep.

Aggregated from 20 community reviews.
Wine-finished agricole, chocolate and sour cherry An elegant, wine-cask agricole with dark chocolate, sour cherry and a tangy orange note. Well made and very drinkable — the recurring gripe is it costs too much.

Basically a really elegant and tasty Agricole with a finish in fine wine barrels which is quite successful. Subtly reminiscent of old grappa from Amarone barrels with this spiciness, fruit, sweetness and at the same time a lot of barrel influence. Dark chocolate, sour cherry and tobacco are added on the finish. It's very easy to drink but I think € 260 is a bit excessive. Nevertheless, really tasty and successful!
