Caroni collectors chasing another 1997 will find a divided verdict here. The nose does the heavy lifting — burnt rubber, diesel, wood, nuts and burnt sugar, with real fruit creeping in. Then the palate arrives thin and watery, mocha and dark chocolate fading fast on a short finish. Several tasters suspect it was diluted too far. Drinkable and recognizably Caroni, just missing its middle.

Alkohol sehr gut eingebunden, geschmacklich ein runder, komplexer 97er, der eher in Richtung 98er Jahrgang geht. Gefällt mir sehr gut!

Caroni wie er nicht sein sollte: Dünn, geschmacksarm, etwas Holz, etwas Frucht. Die offiziellen Tastingnotes sind jedenfalls für mich nicht nachvollziehbar. Das beste an diesem Rum ist mit Abstand das Label auf der Flasche.

Das ist kein herausragender Caroni, aber durchaus gelungen! Die Nase ist noch am ausgeprägtesten mit den typischen Markern. Der Gaumen fällt dem gegenüber zwar ab, ist aber, wenn auch nicht intensiv, als Caroni durchaus erkennbar. Enttäuschend ist für mich allerdings der Abbang, da viel zu kurz und nicht wirklich aussagekräftig

In der Nase und im Antrunk ein absolut akzeptabler, wenngleich nicht hervorragender, Caroni. Im Abgang dann definitiv deutlich zu dünn, das schwächt die Bewertung erheblich. Nach den bisherigen Reviews hätte ich Schlechteres erwartet, umgekehrt bekommt man für den aufgerufenen Preis natürlich auch noch weit bessere Rums.

Dieser Rum hat zwei Seiten. Einerseits finde ich durchgänig typische Caroni Marker in Nase, Mund und Gaumen. Aber dann ist da etwas das einfach fehlt. Als wäre ein Loch in der Mitte von allem. Mokka, Menthol, gebrannter Zucker, Fruchtgummi, holzig aber auch Säure und Kräuter. Relativ dünn im Gaumen. Aber dennoch unverkennbar Caroni.

Als ich diese Wundertüte zufällig entdeckt habe und dann merkte, dass es nur 60 Flaschen davon gibt, konnte ich nicht widerstehen. Die Erwartungen waren natürlich groß. Leider konnten diese nicht wirklich erfüllt werden um mit anderen Caroni Abfüllungen zu konkurrieren. Mein Fazit: Es ist ein sehr feiner Rum, der durchaus zum daily sippen wunderbar ist. Leider muss man zugestehen, dass er sehr dünn und verwässert schmeckt. Würde der Preis nicht bei 300€ liegen sondern bis ca. 100€ würde ich sogar noch eine Flasche kaufen. Das Etikett ist trotzallem das Highlight.

Solider 97er Caroni mit ausdrucksstarkem Aromenspiel in der Nase. Viel typische Heavy Caroni-Assoziationen mit verbranntem Gummi, Fass, dunklen Gewürzen, Leder und Lakritz. Nach und nach kommen auch deutliche fruchtige Anklänge dazu. Leider hält der Gaumen nicht ganz Schritt, was erstmal noch recht aromatisch beginnt, wird leider zunehmend dünn und zeigt eine recht kurze Halbwertszeit. Der Alkohol ist tadellos integriert, die Vermutung, dass hier zu stark verdünnt wurde, drängt sich aber auf. Kleiner Wermutstropfen, dennoch ein guter und angenehm trinkbarer Caroni - kann man schon von zugänglich sprechen?

Nase ist nett mit Benzin, Dreck, Holz, Nüssen und gebranntem Zucker. Am Gaumen leider sehr dünn und wässrig ohne Caroni spezifische Highlights. Auch irgendwie nicht ganz stimmig. Ein guter Rum aber ein vergleichsweise schwacher Caroni. Danke Jörg für die Teilung.

While I like the nose and do get some dirty Caroni notes there, the palate is more of a let down unfortunately. I do get Mokka, dark chocolate, wood and the slightest hints of dirt and menthol, delivery is very soft and feels very much watered down. Intensity and complexity are very much missing. It is not a horrible Rum per se, but definitely no got to Caroni for me. Cheers to zabo for digging this one up and sharing some samples! 💪

die typischen dirty Caroni notes fehlen hier, an der Nase eher fruchtig, ein wenig wie der Le blog à Roger, aber bei weitem nicht so intensiv und komplex…aber jetzt auch nicht so schlecht wie der Felicite Gold etc. Für den aufgerufenen Preis gibt es allerdings deutlich bessere Rums. Besten Dank an Zabo für den Split!
