20.07.2019 Nice private blind tasting where we put tinfoil around the bottles we brought. That ended up being a great evening. Notes Medium dark in colour. 🥃 Suite des bonus de la dernière soirée PokeRhum ! Après l'impressionnant Foursquare 1998, cap sur l'île de La Réunion avec une petite pépite sortie de la cave de Jimmy pour célébrer sa première saison parmi nous. Et quelle pépite... 🥃 Savanna Lontan Grand Arôme 2004 – 64,2% Whaaaat ?! 😲 Voilà typiquement le genre de rhum qui vous rappelle pourquoi vous êtes tombé dans cette passion. Un véritable monstre aromatique embouteillé à son degré naturel, concentrant tout ce que La Réunion sait faire de plus fou en matière de Grand Arôme. Distillé en 2004, embouteillé en 2016, élaboré à partir de mélasse et de vinasses avec une fermentation exceptionnellement longue de 5 à 10 jours, puis vieilli intégralement en ex-fûts de cognac... Sur le papier déjà, ça annonce la couleur. Et pourtant, après une énorme lineup Hampden, alors que les palais étaient déjà bien saturés, ce Savanna a réussi l'exploit de prendre toute la lumière. 💥 👃 Au nez, c'est une explosion : saumure, vernis, prune, olives vertes... un profil totalement décomplexé, exubérant et assumé. 👄 En bouche, c'est puissant, intense, presque sauvage, mais toujours maîtrisé. Les marqueurs Grand Arôme sont omniprésents et s'étirent vers une finale interminable sur les fruits rouges, avec une note de fraise légèrement acidulée qui reste accrochée au palais pendant de longues minutes. Clairement, ce n'est pas un rhum pour tout le monde. Mais pour les amateurs de profils Grand Arôme — dont je fais évidemment partie 😁 — c'est une véritable bombe. Voilà un ancien embouteillage qui n'a absolument rien à envier aux sorties récentes. Bien au contraire... ❓ La vraie question maintenant : comment un rhum pareil peut-il n'afficher qu'un petit 80/100 sur RumX ?! Je ne comprends toujours pas... 🤯🥃

À ancien embouteillage d’une distillerie que j’affectionne particulièrement compte-tenu du degré d’alcool et de sa classification au grand arôme, j’ai laissé pratiquement six heures de repos dans le verre à la différence. D’autres grands arômes, on retrouve des notes de Polich, de solvant, une puissance aromatique assez élevée, Grosse finale sur le boisé le solvant est quelqu’un d’agrumes Le nez reste sur l’olive et la fraise mais le bouché se fait beaucoup plus boisées avec même des notes de tabacs
