Red Leg Spiced Rum
Sweet-tooth mixers are the real audience here: this is a syrupy spiced rum built around toffee, butterscotch and heavy vanilla, with cinnamon and ginger on top. A couple of members happily sip it over ice, but most agree it shines in cola, where the sweetness works. Neat, it turns into a sugar bomb with a slightly bitter, burnt-sugar edge.

How does Red Leg Spiced Rum taste?
Aggregated from 31 community reviews.
Very sweet spiced rum for cola Most see it as a decent cola mixer — sweet, toffee-heavy and easy. Fans of dry rum find it a syrupy sugar bomb neat, and one member wouldn't drink it straight at all.

Review by Henry Davies
It’s an overly sweetened spiced rum at a relatively low ABV. It’s hard to get very excited, syrupy and sweetness beyond anything. The nose is fairly non discript, with toffee and butterscotch. On the mouth their is cinnamon and other spices combined with stewed apple and sweet butterscotch. The finish is vanilla, chocolate and over the top cinnamon. It’s not even my top spiced rum and beyond anything else is just a sugar bomb - I honestly would avoid and struggle to drink it unless already well on my way and a few drinks in. Straight don’t even bother

ok as a mixture

Not a bad rum at all. I reckon the suggested 'burnt sugar' and 'peppery' nail the flavour of this rum. Quite a bitter side to this badlad, as far as you can get with a spiced rum at least. Nicer with a cola compared to neat. Would try again, maybe with some crisps. Unusual name, but inspired possibly in part by pinkeye because of the bleary morning after.

Quite sweet, plenty of vanilla. Mixes quite well into standard cocktails and with the usual mixers.

Read full review →In terms of availability I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to get the others over this. This has got a solid rum base and has been authentically spiced or infused. It even works surprisingly well as a sipper or over ice! I doubt this will be my last...
