Great, fruity Beenleigh, characterized by citrus, apple and raisin. An additional main component is found in floral and flowery notes. Ultimately complemented by caramel, chocolate and vanilla. In the mouth and finish, a little more hot spices, citrus and chocolate. A solid and thoroughly complex rum that convinces me.

Rum and chocolate tasting and Australia from Rum Club Switzerland. A nose of tropical fruit (banana, pineapple), citrus, varnished wood and sweetness (pastries). A floral note completes the nose. The palate has a fairly soft, spicy attack, with cedar, fruit and floral notes emerging later. The finish is medium, with fruit and wood on the finish. Empty glass, fruit and wood varnish in harmony. A beautifully balanced rum. It lacks a little depth, but it's very well made and a pleasure to drink.

The best of the 3 Velier Beenleighs for me, but still not a good rum. The nose hints at yellow fruit or dried fruit. Then the watery, alcoholic base note on the palate. Perhaps the freshly opened bottles are also to blame. Will definitely get a 2nd and 3rd chance.

A powerful and spicy rum where ginger, pomegranate and fig dominate. The aftertaste is long with flavors of cherry, apricot and almond as well as licorice 😋

I like it better on the second tasting. Nice citrus and orange notes on the nose, coupled with vanilla and spice. Alcohol well integrated. The same aromas on the palate. Nice attack, then unfortunately flattens out quickly.

2015 / 2013 / 2006 side-by-side from the freshly opened bottles. While I have to admit, that Australia isn’t my favorite origin, the both younger bottlings really aren’t my cup of tea. Rather sharp and alcohol forwards. Citrus, apples, pear are dominating. Same is true for the 2006. Here the overall balance is much better, however. While the 2006 is enjoyable, I’m no fan of the younger one. That is from the open bottle. As with past experience in this side-by-side, the Bennleighs improve significantly after a couple of weeks in the opened bottle. 2013 and 2006 show much more rich fruits and a more balanced profile with significant less sting. Easily +0.5 points after some oxidation. The 2015 just remains underwhelming. Better than before but still sharp and not really pleasant imho.

Another example of a bottle that needs air to really grow to its fullest potential. Upon opening I did not think much of it, and if scored then it would have barely broken the 7 threshold. Now at 2/3s with about two months of air in it; a very different experience. Fruity, flowery and -above all- dry nose. With top notes of bitter orange, roasted nuts and wet clay it opens dry and mineral. A display of apples and peaches follows up into a malty, caramelised backbone. Geranium flowers i.a. introduce a lovely complexity. In the mouth a more concentrated version of the nose. Fruits and flowers are dialed down a bit in favor of wood, malt and caramel. Less dry than the nose suggested, but way more spicy with peppers and a hint of coriander. The finish is short and sweet, lacking intricacy and thus a little incomplete for my taste.

A pretty Australian rum with many hidden and unsuspected sides. The nose is lined with violets, perfuming the nostrils with their freshness. Citrus (orange) and dried fruit (grape) add a tonic touch, while toasty wood, sweet spices (vanilla), molasses, honey and caramel focus on gluttony and opulence. A very pleasant, fragrant rum. The palate is lively and full-bodied. Flowers are the first to appear on the palate, followed by spices (pepper, vanilla), wood and caramel notes. Fruit follows in a mixture of tropical fruit marmalade, citrus and dried fruit. A hint of dark chocolate adds roundness and finesse. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is very long, with a great aromatic palette and complexity. First comes orange zest, then spices, wood, roasted notes, dark chocolate and camphor take over. Finally, the violet returns with its lovely veil that perfumes the finish. A lovely Beenleigh, delicate, full-bodied and very good value for money.

Tasted first at the urban rum cruise! Very delicious, powerful, fruity but also spicy! You get here a nice impressions of the power of australia! I liked the orange and dark chocolate notes, reminds me on those well known cookies😅😜 You’ll get a lot for you money.

Arturs Australien Adventskalender 2025 Türchen 14. Wieder ein recht fruchtiger Beenleigh, außerdem wieder Vanille, in der Nase zudem etwas Holz. Am Gaumen finde ich ihn dann auch recht röstig, vor allem geröstete Nüsse haben wir hier.

A lovely discovery, made during a sample tasting. The nose is very flattering, sweet with a hint of alcohol and spice. On the palate, there's a certain continuity with yellow fruit. At first I thought green banana, which evolves into peach/pear. A little custard and spicy touches. The alcohol is well integrated.

A beautiful Beenleigh which, at 10 years old, has a decent degree of maturity. Of course, there are again many yellow fruits such as quinces and pears as well as honey, but there is also no lack of spices and oak, including a slight eucalyptus-menthol vapor and a thin layer of varnish.

My 2nd Beenleigh and again I associate this with Bourbon. Rather sweet and fruity on the nose, with spice gradually taking over on the palate, first joined by sweetness bit getting drier and woody. A nice drink for certain. Nose: Dominated by orange, after pouring, and after aeriation also by peach and apricot. Then quite new wood, syrup and caramel. Less present are vanilla, and spice (nutmeg), and varnish. Taste: full-bodied and assertive, so I use some water. Spicy and sweet. Ginger, pepper, nutmeg. Syrup, dark sugar, caramel. Cherry, apricot, and quite some wood. Finish: long, now mainly spicy and leas sweet, with the wood picking up. Less on fruit now.

I always love coming back to the "different" fruitiness of Beenleigh. The green apple reminds me directly of those sour apple rings from my childhood. The taste is drier than expected with quite a bit of sharpness.

Cross-tasting of the three Velier bottlings (06, 13, 15) Initially a little restrained on the nose, but then more intense on the palate, with a lot of citrus aroma and floral notes. Generally very fresh, but with a slightly bitter finish. Exciting notes of orange, grapefruit and honey. For me, this evening's bottling was in the middle of the class.

Good beenleigh. Overall, however, a little too metallic for me. Somewhat one-dimensional and not quite as complex as I am otherwise accustomed to from beenleigh. The remaining velier beenleighs please me much better. Would not be a rum of which I would voluntarily pour me a 2nd sip....

A pretty nice Beenleigh. I always get a huge pear/apple/citrus note with Beenleigh, both on the nose as on the palate. Compared to the 2015, this one is very similar but I like the extra age. Curious to compare it to the older 2006 release though.

Bei den doch recht diversen Bewertungen bin ich mal gespannt. Schöne leuchtende Farbe, macht sich gut. Erster Naseneindruck fruchtig und floral. Zitrusnote, Orange, frisch und blumig duftig. Auch etwas Honig-Süße. Alles jedenfalls sehr lecker und animierend. Am Gaumen dann mehr Würznoten, Holz, dann aber auch hier die Orangenote. Etwas Schärfe und leicht brennend. Der mittel-lange Abgang auf der Holz/würzigen Seite mit einem Hauch von Bitterkeit. Nach einiger Zeit im Glas - der Naseneindruck wird noch vielfältiger, jetzt kommen auch Karamellnoten und die Orange/Zitrone kommt erst hinterher. Das ist richtig gut. Am Gaumen stört mich die Schärfe, die immer noch vorhanden ist und auch im Abgang noch zu spüren ist. In Summe finde ich den Stoff durchaus gut. Wahrscheinlich nicht everybodys Darling, jedoch nichts was bei mir nur im Mixer endet.

Beenleigh 2013 – 59% Direction l’Australie avec une distillerie historique (1884 👀). Double distillation (colonne + copper still) et 10 ans sous climat tropical en ex-bourbon. 👉 Profil : fruits, épices, puis une belle touche florale 👉 Équilibre : propre, agréable, facile à boire 💭 Verdict : un rhum bien construit, mais qui manque un peu de complexité pour vraiment marquer les esprits. Sympa… sans plus.

Neck pour, quite restrained, spirity, hot. After an hour in the glass, rich fruity aromas start to appear, and I begin to see the potential🤔🤔…tbcont’d… gonna need some time with this one. With multiple tastings and aniseedy, fresh minty side is very evident and a subtle, green vegetal side, like a slightly bitter cucumber. Upon finishing the bottle a year later I can sum it up as: Ripe pineapple on toast, with a blast of licorice in the mouth, and a woody baking spice finish.

Nice Beenleigh that hits the typical Beenleigh notes of fruits and honey for me. It seems a bit low on the pear and is perhaps not very intense. This could be due to the 10 years of aging which is the oldest Beenleigh I have tasted to date. Not very complex but definitely tasty. It finishes with a wonderful thick honey-like feel.

Un nez dominé par la poire, puis vient la pomme, un peu de vanille et des épices, ça donne envie. En bouche, l attaque est plutôt vive, on sent la relativement jeunesse du jus. Toujours cette poire bien mûre, on ressent presque le petit côté granuleux du fruit. La pomme, la vanille soit toujours présentent, accompagnées de piment. Finale relativement courte. Ce côté poire me plaît beaucoup, mais l alcool pourrait être mieux intégré.

This is so much nicer than the Transcontinental Rum Lines 2013. A very fruity nose, way less alcohol heat, despite the increased abv, and just a much nicer finish. Still enjoy it in the Bourbon trail glass.

Oh man this is a well made rum. Big, bold kicks you in the butt in a good way with the higher ABV and fullness. It’s almost a cross between Spanish and Jamaican. Flavorful but not too big and balanced with the aging. Long pleasant finish.

Could have fooled me as a bourbon on the nose. It hits the palate with impact and a sweet first impression. To me spices are most dominant with fruits like pear and apple playing second fiddle. However no notes stand out particularly to me. And while what you get tastes good, it is not a rum that will allow you to peel off layer after layer.

This is pretty strong tasting rum. It lacks a lot of funk of other rums and tastes pretty dry. Lots of fruity notes on the nose and I got a distinct green apple taste. It also had a pretty strong oak flavor.
