Velier Diamond & Port Mourant <SV>PM 1995
Strictly a neat pour, and one that wants time and a drop of water to open up. Tropically-fruited leading in with fresh pineapple, then heavy oily wood, tobacco, espresso and licorice underneath, with burnt caramel sweetness. The Port Mourant stamp lifts the Savalle blend. A few tasters found it a wild, contrasting drink that fought itself before the long finish pulled everything together.

25.02.2017 A nice afternoon in the basement with rum and some delicious food. Notes Medium dark colour. Nose Wood, light roasted, plum, light licorice, faint chocolate, light caramel. Palate Intense, oily, wood, light smoke, dried fruit, plum, light licorice, earthy. Finish Very long, wood, light smoke, raisin, plum, tobacco, licorice

... Stare Velier Demerara rumy je to nejlepsi, co v rumovem svete muzete ochutnat. Rumy zraly spise omylem nekolik let v tropech a nikdo obsah sudu nedoplnoval. Andelska dan byla 90% a vice, proto je chut obzvlaste plna a intenzivni. I kdyz se jedna o extra drahou zalezitost, doporucu alespon jednou v zivote ochutnat rum z teto serie.

Clear molasses on the nose and hints of smoke and medicin. In the mouth the smoke is more present, but in a good way (i am not into way to smoky stuff). It is medicinal, floral and mineral. After resting for a while it starts to come up with some fruity notes. The finish is quite long, but mostly smoke. The abv is well integrated, I would not have guessed 61,5%. But I miss some complexity and power

A wild, complex fellow, not very balanced. Needs a lot of time and a few drops of water. Did not fulfill the high expectations by far. More convincing the second time you taste it. Great oily mouthfeel, highly complex. However, it still doesn't leave you wanting more.
