Damoiseau Subprime Cuvée 2008
Agricole fans who want something a bit off the beaten path should look here. The nose is the star — baked apple and pear, sugarcane, vanilla and even milk chocolate, less earthy than a typical Guadeloupe. The palate turns dry, peppery and woody, with a bitter, salty edge that not everyone loves. At 47.9% it stays vivid without much heat.

How does Damoiseau Subprime Cuvée 2008 taste?
Aggregated from 54 community reviews.
Complex aged agricole, nose beats the palate Most agree it punches above its age and proof — an unusually complex agricole and a genuine value pick. A common note: the palate can't quite match that gorgeous nose.

This rum is really nice and I just had to go for seconds. The nose is well balanced with a mixture of grass, vanilla, fruits and a mixture of wood. The palate is balanced and complex with spices, fruit and flowery/Agricole touch to it. Chocolate and wood finishes the experience. The finish is medium long primarily cinnamon and tobacco with a bit of candy and grass to it.

Tasted this Agricole from Guadeloupe during the Sweden Rum Fest in Stockholm 2025. It’s a vintage rum aged in ex-bourbon oak barrels. The nose is the generous, powerful, fruity, spicy, vegetal and fresh with scents of raisins, strawberry, apple, pear, cumin, licorice, olive and rosemary. At the palate it’s mellow, full-bodied, fruity, spicy and vegetal with flavors of exotic fruits, plum, prune, licorice and olives. The finish is just medium and its the fruity notes that’s persisting.

So, this is the last one for today, but it's really delicious. Yes, the nose is rather sweet, vanilla and wood are recognizable. On the palate, in addition to wood and vanilla, we also have spices and, above all, pepper. Good night ;-)

Smagning med Mr. Simon Hansen 16.07.2026 RX 1576 Damoiseau Subprime Duft: Smuk agricole, let mineralsk salt, let vanilje og frugt sødme, noter af nød. Græs og ikke mindst gummi. Palette: Syrlig frugtsødme, behagelig krydret let peberet. Smagning “In the garden”

A sample from the HanseSpirit'25. Nose: very pleasant, spicy-woody-fruity entry, almost floral, with fresh-grassy and caramel-chocolatey notes. Some vinegar resonates. Orange with lemon and pear with apple, plus plenty of gooseberry. The chocolate note increases significantly over time. I like it very much, 8.2 Palate: powerful and spicy-woody. The Agricole comes through here. At first bitter-salty-peppery with caraway, nutmeg and lemon peel, then it turns towards aniseed with a medicinal note and finally it becomes long and grassy with camomile and sugar cane without sweetness. Can't keep up with the nose and is too grassy for me. 7.7

Smells mega delicious, a bit like a Guyana rum, but with a lot of Agricole, especially apple or pear like J.M or Depaz. Not the typical earthy and leathery Agricole, but more caramel, sugar cane, fruit and chocolate and overall very complex. Alone what fruits you can discover all! In the mouth then very sharp, dry and spicy, which unfortunately does not meet my taste. Overall, nevertheless, a very good rum.

Fine, very good Agricole.

Unexpected sample for today. For start let this rum rest in the glass. In aroma I noticed hint of vanilla, wood and like salty dry scent, a lot of grass and agricole scents and lot of fruits (mostly orange and apple which, thanks to those scents aroma itself is pretty juicy). Taste is combination of agricole tones with pepper, wood and bitter. With my next sip I noticed chocolate and dried fruits (again apples), but the whole taste seems dry. Finish is quite enough with lot of floral/vegetal notes, little bit of spice and bitter. Very nice sample, but to be honest I was expecting more from this rum. What I really like was scent and taste of apples, so the whole rum seems dry but at the same time it seems juicy (pretty good can not lie).

Nice gourmet profile with liveliness, intensity and a spicy edge. This gives it an energy that makes it quite remarkable. The value for money is also very interesting. Perhaps the best damoiseau at an affordable price.

A surprisingly mature and intense, complex Agricole for its young age and low percentages. However, I probably wouldn't have classified it as Guadeloupe blind. I find the grapey, fruity notes a little lacking.

Assaggiato in sample.

Damoiseau is my preferred gwada profile and I love this bottle because it does so much with so little. 57€, reduced, and only 7-8 years of ageing and yet you get a delicious profile chock-full of flavor with a generous length and all of it tremendously well integrated. Easy sipper gold and an unwitting brag about the incredible amount of mileage that the Damoiseau taste profile holds. No wonder their higher end stuff from yesteryear is so legendary if this modest little bottle is anything to go by.

Erinnert eher an Melasse Rum.

Highly unusual profile for an agricole. Baked apple & pear, salted caramel, milk chocolate, cinnamon, dried fruit and tobacco! Overall really harmonious and balanced. Positive surprise despite dilution.
Review by ilRummista
An excellent drink. A really very distinctive and characteristic flavor profile with woody and floral hints. Outstanding value for money! Of course I would not have disdained a few more degrees which would have given it more strength on the palate and brought it even closer to some of Damoiseau's historic bottlings!

I am a damoiseau lover, so might be biased. Still, this is a great aged agricole rhum, excellent nose but somewhat lacking in the palate, mainly due to low abv. Can't be compared to 1995 and older Brut de Fut not having molasses at all, so a different profile yet enough consistent especially with 1995. A great value for money rum

Good overall, and very good for the price.

A good rum, balanced but with a strong and intense character, especially considering the gradation
