Valinch & Mallet Beenleigh The Spirit of Art 2007
Anyone curious what an Australian pot-still rum can do will find this a real study: 16-year Beenleigh with ester and light "polish/varnish notes," oily in the glass, fruity on the nose but distinctly spicy and herbal on the palate. One taster nearly mistook it for a Jamaican — funky and estery, with stewed ripe fruit and pineapple. The finish, though, turns short and conventional.

How does Valinch & Mallet Beenleigh The Spirit of Art 2007 taste?
Aggregated from 19 community reviews.
Funky, spicy Aussie pot still with a short finish Well-liked but polarizing: nose promises fruit, palate leans spicy and herbal, and most agree it fades fast. Good, not remarkable — one member called it a decent afternoon sipper.

#4056 A pretty good release from Valinch & Mallet i think. The price is pretty OK and I have ordered a bottle because I like it. Well balanced and the wood isn't dominant and does well with the fruit and light polish/varnish notes. The empty glass is really nice and I can pick up some nougat and salty notes.

Alkohol gut eingebunden!

I didn’t take any notes at the Rhum Fest so a more detailed review will follow as soon as I get the chance to sample this rum again in a better context.

A good Australian that does nothing wrong, but nothing particularly well either.

Review by Timo Groeger
