Dried fruit, caramel and roasted oak lead here, with only a faint whiff of glue and solvent late on. This 25-year New Yarmouth surprises people: it drinks more like an aged Demerara or Foursquare than a classic funky Jamaican. Give it a good hour in the glass and the spice, chocolate and dark fruit open up. The 67.7% is there, but most find it beautifully integrated.

Reminds me of a Foursquare mixed with Guyana. Heavy wood influence with intense nut and chocolate notes, some coconut, dried fruit. A bit of alcohol sharpness is noticeable but doesn't interfere too much. On the late finish, some pineapple creeps in.

Very complex rum…. Wonderful notes of various fruits, dried fruits, chocolate, ester, leather… also a bitter and tar note, minty finish reminds me of caroni! This has so many tastes to explore, amazing A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one 😎 A very long harmonious warm finish full of various notes , round off this fantastic rum! Second tasting together with the Swell NY 1994: Rating unchanged, the Swell is ahead for me What strikes me first: the nose is super smooth despite the almost 70% alcohol! That's a very promising start. Otherwise there's a lot of caramel and dried fruit. The rum seems to be closer to the Spanish style than the English. The alcohol is very evident on the palate. But in harmony with an incredibly balanced performance The finish is medium long and more on the toasty side and reminds me a lot of Foursquare Patrimonio and co. Super rum with an unexpectedly mild but very good overall impression.

Everything is balanced on the nose and the flavors are equal: milk chocolate, menthol, fruit, caramel and wood. A slight spiciness at the start, but then everything is as balanced as on the nose. The finish is long and perfect! In my opinion, the best NY 94 of the evening. The difference is in the balance of flavors, perfect here. And a dream finish.

Starker New Yarmouth mit viel Ausdruck. In der Nase intensive Fruchtester, reife Banane, Ananas und etwas Klebstoff, dazu Vanille und eine schöne Würze. Am Gaumen dicht und kraftvoll mit viel Frucht, Gewürzen und Holz, alles ordentlich konzentriert. Wirkt typisch 94er JG, mit viel Tiefe und Druck, ohne komplett auszukippen. Gute Abfüllung.

What for others are the Caroni vintage 1996 or the Hampden vintage 1990, is for me the New Yarmouth 1994.Absolute favorite!Compared to the Rome Deluxe, this one is a bit woodier, less fruit, less round and the alcohol stings a bit more in the mouth.Here I like the wonderful, solid maturity of the wood, unlike the fine cedar of the Agricoles, it is here oak with lots of tannin.The fitting music: "Surfin'" by Ernest Ranglin.

It's super gourmand on the nose, not very fruity but very pastry-like. The palate is totally in keeping with this beautiful nose. The only reason I can't find it exceptional is 67.7! Too much alcohol. You have to wait a very long time for the alcohol to release the other aromas before you can drink it. A little reduction would certainly have been beneficial.

It's very greedy on the nose and really doesn't disappoint on the palate 👌Fruit caramelized, toasted and slightly spicy. All very well balanced❤ A treat. Maybe lacks a reduction to be perfect 🤔

A very nice rum experience, so much in advance. On the nose, you encounter vanilla, caramel and coconut. There is also glue and nutmeg. The strength is noticeable in the taste, but in a very pleasant way. Vanilla, pepper, caramel and dark chocolate. Very intense. It then lingers incredibly long and warm. Great rum.

Insanely intense in taste. Smooth and round. A top rum. The SBS has more coconut than the VM, the RA is more intense and for me a little better overall than the SBS and VM.

Kräftig, dunkel, würzig, fast schon Medizinisch. Bitter, sehr viel Holz, dahinter röstaromen, viel Kakao, Zartbitterschokolade, viel Gewürze und etwas Banane, Kokos und Aprikose, sowie Minze im Abgang. Der Alkohol könnte etwas besser eingebunden sein. Den hätte ich echt Bock im Mai Tai zu probieren🤤 für den damaligen Preis definitiv ein mega 94er NY!!

It took a long time until I tasted this rum. Directly pure and also with 6 cl in Mai Tai. I find him very exciting, but am somewhat below the ratings given so far. Within the NYE 94 but one of the best.

Flying blind, let's see: The nose directly says Foursquare, lots of caramel, vanilla, oak and bourbon. Now the glass has stood a little and the obvious Foursquare profile has given way to spicy notes and sourdough. Plus nuts and some tobacco. Let's try it...hmm, now I'm even more unsure. Strong on the attack, definitely just under 60%, quite spicy and only a subtle sweetness. Vanilla is present and also some caramel, but more in the background. Baking spices, cloves and a lot of wood, all together slightly astringent. The finish is of medium length, quite dry and also rather on the spicy side. Vanilla, again the baking spice, root and a few bitter notes, but overall quite balanced. I like it, but I was perhaps a little too quick with Foursquare. Second round with a few drops of water: On the nose, the spices recede a little and some mint and roasted flavors come in and the drop becomes a little more approachable overall. The dryness gives way to a slight sweetness. Well, without water I would have guessed a somewhat atypical Foursquare. Now it could also be a TDL. Whatever it is, I like it very much. :man_shrugging: 8.9 without and 9.0 with water and I'll take a look.... Boah yeah okay, of course when you know it's all totally obvious :smiley:

A superb expression of this famous 1994 New Yarmouth vintage. The nose is extremely greedy, with pastry and cookie notes, caramel, milk chocolate, cappuccino, beautiful spices (pepper, chili, vanilla, nutmeg), a well-melted woody profile, hazelnut notes and dried fruits. A touch of coconut could make us think that we smell a Foursquare, and yet it is not. It is only after aeration that the glue and solvents are invented to the aromatic party, without taking over. An absolutely splendid olfactory profile.the attack in mouth is of the most impressive. The whole is at the same time very round, rich, complex, balanced and of a rare elegance. The exotic fruits (notably coconut) and dried fruits are confronted with pastry notes, caramel and burnt sugar. Milk chocolate, roasted hazelnuts and cappuccino, accompanied by very fine sweet spices (nutmeg, vanilla) and empyreumatic notes (toast, roasted notes) give the profile a whole new dimension to Jamaican rum. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. The finish is extremely long and prolongs the gustatory pleasure on the same flavors, with a touch of crème brûlée and a spicy heat that warms the heart. An absolutely divine nectar, which has everything to please and which only asks to plunge the nostrils and the lips for an endless pleasure.

Dégusté à l aveugle, et j ai beaucoup galèré pour trouver la provenance, surtout que c était mon premier N.Y 94. Je n aurais jamais pensé à un Jamaïcain! C est un peu sombre des palettes gustatives et olfactives très variées et harmonieuses. Une grosse concentration avec un alcool bien intégré.

94 NY Tasting: Kill Devil, S.B.S. and RA. The RA clearly at 1, the Kill Devil at 2 and the S.B.S at 3, whereby the S.B.S appears less powerful than its competitors due to its low ABV. However, it also has a multi-layered nose.

👃 First scents of candied fruit (orange, tangerine) and dried fruit (grape, berry) fade with time. Then, the fruitiness gives way to all kinds of caramel desserts; homemade cream, still-warm topping, candy... I also detect vanilla cooked in butter. the woody character, very present, expresses itself through beautiful cooking spices (cinnamon, pepper) and the smell of manufactured and tanned products (leather crust, old suitcase). Alcohol perception is surprisingly low, given the very high ABV. It's resinous, with a certain freshness on ginger and peppermint, as well as dried leaves and a cigar box that's just been opened. The nose is like a mille-feuille of masterfully layered aromas. - 93/100 😋 First, the empyreumatic characteristic is remarkable and complex on various roasts (coffee, cappuccino, cocoa), roasted oleaginous (walnut) and burnt flavors (wood, rubber, tobacco). Then there's a lot of greediness on Demerara sugar, salted butter caramel, tangy orangettes with full-bodied dark chocolate, spicy and bitter, carried by light esters. All this seems to create a blend of heavy, burnt, sweet, spicy and vanilla molasses. The ABV serves the flavors, which are skilfully expressive and aromatic. A very pleasant return. Complex, concentrated, dense and extremely drinkable. - 94/100 ⛳ Tart/bitter combination on small pieces of orangette with the bitterness of dark chocolate. Some mint, tobacco and dried leaves. Medium-length finish that's a little too short given the expression of the nose and palate. Hop, another sip 🤤 - 89/100 In fact, this New Yarmouth 94 gives me an impression of authenticity and austerity comparable to those magnificent very old Bas-Armagnac from a blend of Ugni Blanc and Baco, the degree of alcohol added. N.B.: on reflection, I'm also thinking of an old Guyanese molasses made from Skeldon, Albion and Versailles. Amazing and extraordinary.

A very complex rum that requires a lot of attention. You are rewarded with very nice spicy and fruity influences. Great flavor development that lingers for a long time. Due to the high ABV, the rum has a real punch without being overpowering.

After pouring, an incredibly beautiful fruity and spicy aroma fills the room. I gave it 20 minutes. Great nose. Intensely fruity, spicy, fresh. Associated with sherry. Soft dried plum. The tart sweetness of sour cherry and blackberry. Sweet spice of leather and very light tobacco. Woody notes come through. Finest esters, more in the direction of solvent. Complex and intense on the palate. Now the strong spice is at the forefront. Woody, roasted, salty. Cardamom, aniseed and vanilla are the most likely spices. Sweet-tart leather. The sweetness of plum. Burnt sugar, towards caramel. The finish is still spicy and woody, but also tart and sweet like creme brulee and black tea. A really great, mature rum. Very atypical for NY as there are hardly any esters. But delicious!

Today a tasting with seven bottlings of the 1994 New Yarmouth: Thompson Brothers, Royal Cane, Kill Devil, Rum Sponge, Ron Artesanal, FRC Bottles Shop and Maolt, Grain & Cane. Artesanal is considered by many to be the benchmark here. It is solid, perhaps the best today, but somehow unspectacular.

On a blind test, I will probably think that this is a classic Demerara..on the nose, is really far from a typical Jamaican rum, with strong notes of plums, raisins and vanilla, balanced out by a fair amount of spices (pepper and a touch of nutmeg). Then the barrel, with a wood and maybe grassy note, together with a touch of leather. Same profile with the taste. You do get a really light hint of glue, but nowhere near the classical Hampden’s. Oddly good!

Awesome stuff! You can really tell the age of the NY, the full load of dry aromas. An incredible variety of different aromas on the nose, with a certain fruitiness on the palate, which is nevertheless concealed behind the dry aromas. You can clearly feel the 67%, but it still makes you want more!

Holz ist angenehm präsent, die süße im Geschmack wirkt natürlich, Gewürze in überwiegen Frucht. Bis hier ein sehr rundes leckeres Produkt. Sowohl in der Nase, wie auch im Geschmack gefällt mir der Alkohol aber nicht sehr (nicht ideal eingebunden).

Mein erster 94er NY. Sehr tolle ausgewogene Nase. Fruchtig, Vanille und Fassnoten. Die sonst bekannten jamaikanischen Esternoten sind hier nicht im bekannten Ausmaß wahrnehmbar. Am Gaumen gehts in eine Ähnliche Richtung. Das Alter kommt etwas mehr zur Geltung, außerdem eine angenehme Süße. Wahnsinnig gut eingebundener Alkohol. Die 67,7% sind bemerkbar aber keinesfalls störend. Fazit: Wow ist der lecker!
