#6839 24.05.2026 Running a few evening samples while listening to some Psy Trance on Spotify. The rum is pretty OK but the price tag is a bit hefty in my mind. An intense yet well balanced rum with fruits, wood, spice, caramel, nutts and some tobacco.

Petit jeu de mots avec la distillerie, mais on a ici le gros poisson de la collection. Derrière une « jolie carafe » qui contraste avec le reste de la gamme se cache un rhum brut de vieilli pendant au moins 15 ans, ce qui n’est pas négligeable. Le nez est pour le coup assez complexe et intéressant avec pas mal d’échanges entre les fruits confits (agrumes) et secs (raisins), le caramel, la pomme au four, le piment, la vanille et le boisé extrêmement fin. On sent que le profil est très travaillé et peaufiné sur le long terme et ça fait partie des forces de la distillerie. Le profil est raffiné et a du corps en bouche, ce qui est une bonne surprise. Les saveurs sont pour le coup universelles : citron vert confit, fruits secs, épices douces (piment, vanille), bois toasté, canne à sucre et notes herbacés se partagent le palais sans vraiment établir une hiérarchie, c’est équilibré et maîtrisé. L’alcool est superbement bien intégré, il n’y a pas grand chose à redire dessus. La finale est dans le prolongement du profil, assez légère, complexe et tout en maîtrise. Elle chauffe le palais de ses notes poivrées, toastées et boisées qui assèchent le profil, tandis que le zeste de citron, la canne à sucre et le caramel lui donnent opulence et gourmandise. Les épices et les notes végétales apportent la touche finale d’un rhum de haut calibre. Pour conclure cette dégustation, il s’agit sans conteste d’un très beau produit des Antilles françaises et l’aboutissement d’un travail de passionné, mais il est absolument impossible que ce produit soit compétitif sur le marché avec un prix aussi stratosphérique que déraisonné. L’expérience est bonne à prendre, mais pas la bouteille hélas.

The flagship of the collection. The nose is EXCEPTIONAL. I've never smelled anything so good. Slight regret on the length which I find, disappears quite quickly. But what an experience!!! It's great art.
