Infinity Spirits Long Pond The Royal Cane Cask Company Jamaica 2006
"Not your typical Jamaica," as one member put it, and the reviews keep circling that point. Ripe banana and light glue sit next to noticeable oak, allspice and a dry, almost bitter, tea-like edge — several tasters swear it drinks more like a Clarendon than a Long Pond. Warm and woody rather than a big ester bomb. Divisive, but the fans find it balanced.

Hinweis: Tätigkeit bei Perola GmbH (Spirituosenbranche), teilweise berufliche Involvierung bei bewerteten Abfüllungen. Alle Bewertungen sind meine persönliche, unbezahlte Meinung. Ungewöhnlicher long pond.

#4113 Not your typical Jamaica, more a light version on my mind. Draws nice and slow moving curtains. Lightly fruity with wood and light glue. Dry and warm on the palate. In the empty glass i can pick up some chocolate and very faint licorice. After a few hours pineapple pops out of the glass.

A bit weak for a Long Pond. Despite the low ABV, I don't find the alcohol well integrated. The finish is unfortunately relatively short. Thanks to the RumX team for the raffle and of course Perola for providing the samples.

Solid LP with strong alcohol

Nah, friends, the rum is not mine, nor does it seem like an LP to me. It comes rather close to RA's below-average Clarendon from 2007 (RX2803), especially in view of its pungency. If I had to characterize the rum in three words, I would say cheap, bitter, biting. Alas. And believe me, I let the rum breathe for a very long time ...

Cross-tasting with seven bottlings from Royal Cane. Drinkable, but not a revelation. Overall, none of the bottlings convinced me either.

Flavor-wise, this is never a Long Pond. This astringent, slightly bitter profile with tea notes I know only from Clarendon.

Flavors of ripe banana, salted pistachios, licorice, allspice, Szechuan pepper and fresh ginger. Nuts-and-fruit milk chocolate dominates the finish, which is long and smooth

Tastes absolutely nothing like a Long Pond, but rather has Clarendon DNA (which I like) or it's another Low Ester Jamaican ... possibly a mix-up? Well, in any case not an LP and if a Clarendon, then also rather a medium weak one

I'm opposing most opinions here. Found this a very nicely balanced Long Pond. Unusual yes, but very drinkable yet flavourful. Oakiness vs fruit/funk/baked bananas work well. Some pine wood spiciness. Loved it.
