The nose is all glue, nail polish and solvent with overripe tropical fruit behind it — pure ester punch. Then the palate flips: peppery PM wood, herbs, chocolate and a metallic, dry edge take over. At 56% the alcohol sits well for a nine-year-old, and the finish runs dry and a touch briny.

Very fruity on the nose with some glue, PM comes through only slightly.On the palate first fruity much glue then you notice but that it is a Guyana with some wood, chocolate and light herbal note.Absolutely exciting rum.I like very much.

In the nose comes a dense cloud reminiscent of nail polish and glue - in a positive sense. 🤓 After some rest, the lacquer associations diminish and the nose becomes more accessible and pleasant. An exciting blend of Guyana and Jamaica (with a touch of TECA brutality) awaits on the palate. Quite a new and exciting profile. With a few years of additional barrel aging can arise there about quite exciting.For a very good rating, however, he is still a tad too wild for me.

Very interesting blend. Heavy on esters on the nose with a hint of PM. Profil is destinct and more interesting than a Jamaica clone from Guyana. Creamy on the palate with fruity and PM notes combined.

In the nose a lot of glue, on the palate a good blend of Diamond Guyana and tropical matured Long Pond. With a longer storage it certainly has a very good potential!

An interesting PM that has its own higher ester/congener content via fermentation... sounds worth trying. Nose: oha, indeed unusual for a PM. At first almost artificial and overly floral-sweet with lots of coconut milk and vanilla, with smoke, some vinegar and woody-spicy. But then becomes more and more pleasant, you smell yourself so pure. Tropical fruits with sugar take over. 7,9 Palate: very unusual here too. First briefly astringent with esters, then immediately artificially bacon-y sweet, marzipan, some umami, fat pecan and tonka bean. Oh yes, now also glue and something metallic. At the back again more sweetish-woody-lacric. 8.1 Not bad and also quite drinkable, you can deal with, but for me somehow not quite coherent.

Unusual rum. I've never had anything like it in a glass. At first I still thought: Well, smells and tastes like one of many High-Ester Jamaicans. But then suddenly: Turns the beast but simply in the glass and looks at me directly with his dark eyes. Turns out to be a Guyana leather wolf in Jamaica ester sheep's clothing - really freaky! For this unique spin on the palate, the rum gets two extra (tenth?😜)points.

An original combo of High Ester rums and the rich terroir of Guyana. The nose plunges into medicinal notes with esters, solvents, glue and nail polish. Very ripe red fruits (cherry, raspberry) follow right behind with grapes. Notes of Port Mourant become more noticeable with aeration, offering tea and aromatic herbs, a fairly pronounced spiciness, balanced oak and a touch of leather. A rum that's different from the ordinary, blowing like a breeze of freshness. The attack on the palate is interesting: the funky, medicinal side contrasts with the more herbaceous, spicy, astringent and metallic notes of Port Mourant. Although the flavors are not very miscible on the palate, this stylistic opposition nevertheless forms a profile with a varied aromatic palette that's fairly consistent with what you'd expect from such a blend. Flavors of red and tropical fruit, tea and caramel lend a touch of sweetness to this astringent, dry and intense profile. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is of good length, still combining the two facets of rum but differently. Spices (pepper, chili, licorice, vanilla) and wood dominate, supported by earthy, herbaceous notes. The profile gains in astringency and phenolic notes on the finish, before evoking some more distant exotic fruits. A wonderful discovery that gives a new lease of life to Guyana's young rums, which unfortunately suffer from comparisons with their elders of the last century.

auf den war ich schon sehr gespannt. Der erste auf die Flasche gebrachte DHE/PM blend. An der Nase keine crazy Ester-Bombe a la C<>H, eher ‚verdünnt’ auf LROK- oder HLCF-Niveau. Aber immerhin noch so viel, dass die PM-typischen Noten (wie Olive, Kräuter, Tee) nur dezent wahrnehmbar (bzw erst nach einiger Standzeit besser ortbar) simd. Am Gaumen dann umgekehrt, es dominiert PM (würzig, junges Fass), die DHE-Komponente (Säure) tritt in den Hintergrund. Gelungenes Experiment, aber schade, dass DDL den DHE nicht mal in seiner Reinform einschenkt!

Die Nase geht tatsächlich sehr Richtung Jamaika mit Lösungsmittel, Klebstoff, Nagellack und trop. Früchten im Vordergrund. Der braucht eine ganze Weile bis auch typische PM Noten wahrnehmbar sind. Auch am Gaumen könnte man meinen man wäre auf Jamaika. Spannender Rum mit sehr gut integriertem Alkohol.

Am Gaumen erst jamaikanisch, dann klar Demerara mit Kräutrigkeit, Metall und Klebstoff. Spannend, gut integriert, mit Potenzial für mehr!Vielleicht ein paar Monde zub früh aus dem Fass, aber ein nahezu perfekter Begleiter für einen Frühlingsabend!

Wow, what is that? Somehow exactly what it promises: In the nose first of all esters in the form of glue and varnish. I've never had anything like this from Guyana. Speaking of Guyana: On the palate then also clearly Demerara, a slight herbaceousness, something metallic and again glue. Uitvlugt/PM I would probably also guess blind here, if you subtract the ester of the nose. More generally, you could probably also put it in the middle-ester range in Jamaica, perhaps at Long Pond or so?In any case, once again an exciting bottling, which is not yet a highlight, but shows great potential. Maybe a little more time in the barrel or an improved recipe (even more ester?) and here could arise great. Should be kept in mind!

Auf der gefälligen PM-Grundlage sorgt der DHE-Anteil für einen knackigen und intensiven Esterbeitrag, der sich wirklich sehen lassen kann und sogar Assoziationen an Jamaika weckt. Etwas länger im Fass hätte sicher nicht geschadet, um die pfeffrige Jugend des Destillats ein wenig mehr abzubauen, aber das ist ein richtig guter Rum und ich würde mich freuen, wenn es häufiger Abfüllungen mit dem DHE-Marque geben würde.

#4019 Not too bad considering that it's a 9 year old. Intense in a way with fruits and nice workshop notes. Dry and oily on the palate and it draws really nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass is also really nice and I can pick up metallic notes and more of a workshop 😊

Spannende Abfüllung. Sehr viele Fruchtnoten am Anfang. Dann kommen mehr Röstnoten, Kräuter, Schokolade durch. Die Esternoten harmonieren insgesamt ganz gut mit den Noten des PM. Bringt auch leichte cremigkeit am Gaumen mit.

Very exciting rum. DDL High Ester is extremely unusual. But stands out from the Jamaicans. In the nose extremely much acetone, yet fruity. On the palate it continues fruity, the rum is slightly astringent, long but no DOK. Tastes somewhat metallic, remains so in the finish. Very round, alcohol fantastically integrated. Gladly more, dear friends from Guyana. Great find from S.B.S.

A funky Port Mourant. Needs time. It's somewhat undeciding what it wants to be. Funky or light? But tasty nonetheless. I get a somewhat Foursquary profilr mixed with chemical Grand Arome funk. PM-ish aniseed. Lots of Almonds. Almond liquor. Some raspberry too. Surely very different from any other Guyana but still holds a bit of the Port Mourant DNA.

Vorne Jamaika, hinten Guyana. In der Nase die bekannten Jamaika Ester, im Mund klopfen die Ester kurz an und werden dann von Guyana weggespült. Für das Alter sehr rund, Alkohol ist gut eingebunden. Irres Zeug und hoch spannend. Aber: wer braucht das? Wenn ich Ester will, dann schenke ich mir was aus Jamaika ein, wenn ich Guyana will dito. Anders gesagt: Die Leberkässemmel hole ich mir beim Metzger und nicht beim Bäcker. Fazit: Interessante Erfahrung, unbedingt ein Sample probieren, aber ne ganze Flasche…?

A nice drop, the PM/DHE. On the nose I have mainly glue and slightly the alcohol, the nose reminds me a bit of a Foursquare ECS.On the palate then first once again glue, which then subsides. Behind that I taste slightly hazelnuts and a metallic note, plus a slight bitterness. The whole is not overly sweet, but very round.The finish is medium long, there remains something the metallic note and very slightly the hazelnuts, finally some vanilla. Very nice part and very round, gets for the approximately 100€ issue price my recommendation.

Mit „High Ester“ wird hier nicht zu viel versprochen - im Glas erwarten tatsächlich frische tropische und zitrische Früchte, die auch direkt die geschmackliche Hauptrolle übernehmen. Flankiert wird das Ganze von der Demerara-typischen satten Süsse, wobei diesem Rum das vergleichsweise junge Alter durchaus noch anzumerken ist. Erstaunliche Nähe zu einigen low ester Jamaikanern.

Gefällt mir sehr gut und macht Freude auf das was da noch kommt. In der Nase sehr geil. Am Gaumen etwas schwächer, da mir die Tiefe etwas fehlt. Würde nie auf Guyana tippen, wenn man es weiß findet man dann doch auch den PM Anteil. Tolle Abfüllung.

A Guyana with a little ester, a very interesting rum. The "funky" side of the esters is clearly more pronounced on the nose, and tends to diminish sharply with aeration to give a more pastry-like quality, followed by a little more of the usual Guyana notes. On the palate, the esters are more discreet and the usual markers are more present. There's also a slightly youthful woodiness. A good finish on slightly heavier, drier notes.
