Travellers RA Belize Rum 2006
Opinions really split on this one. Fans get the classic Belize coconut, milk chocolate and roasted wood at 60.8%, but plenty of tasters keep hitting a juniper, gin-like, almost perfumed note that throws them off. Add some heat and a linear, one-note profile and you get a decent-but-not-standout 17-year Travellers. A few members rank it near the top of their Belize flight; others find it monolithic.

Aggregated from 42 community reviews.
Cask-strength Belize with a divisive gin note Divisive. Coconut, chocolate and oaky spice please Belize fans, but many are put off by a juniper/perfume note, hot alcohol and a one-dimensional feel. Good, not great.

Tasted rum at the Aquavitae and bought to share. Since the conversation at the stand was more about Hampden and other things, there was finally room for the rum. Once again a Travellers from Belize. The nose is beautifully fruity with citrus fruit and a little pineapple, coconut aromas come in after a short time and take over, but leave enough space. Fruity and spicy on the palate, a little peach can be tasted but not too sweet. The whole thing is not overly complex, but that's not to be expected from the column style distillation here. In my opinion, the abv is a good 60%, which makes the rum much smoother. Finishes dry with an elegant sweetness. A beautiful Belize.

This one from RA took the 2nd place in my Belize tasting. From the start to end a really good Rum and with all the typical Belize notes. The really interesting thing of this one are the floral, juniper notes which I found on the palate. The finish is medium long and typical Belize 😏

Nose is somewhat different to other 2006 with some herbs and mdecinical notes.

Great nose! Has something of bergamot and sandalwood, almost perfumed... The taste is also slightly perfumed but then again the rather typical, somewhat one-dimensional note of milk chocolate, coconut and intense woody tannins as well as creme brulee. Not 100% my cup of tea, but overall an absolutely stable, delicious Belize single cask with a really good PLV. There are just a lot of them on the market already... Would be interesting to do a 2006 Vintage cross tasting round here!

Review by Serge
Certainly not an exceptional Belize, but still very okay for the RRP. Rather on the alcoholic column side with a few disturbing off-notes (juniper) in the coconut-chocolate profile.

#4729 20.05.2024 Relaxing at home with a few samples. Nose Wood, light roasted, dried fruit, light caramel, light chocolate, faint nutts, spice, cinnamon. Palate Round, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, spice, light nutts, faint chocolate, cinnamon, light cherry. Finish Medium long, round, wood, light pineapple, faint cherry, light chocolate. The empty glass has some light maple notes as well as some light burnt notes.

Very much column style, rather little flavor, not much coconut, for me an almost unpleasant gin note. Alcohol could be better integrated. I would have expected more.
Review by Oliver
Quite an alcoholic nose and rather wild Belize rum on the palate. I don't really like the gin associations. The finish, on the other hand, is pleasantly creamy with lots of coconut.

This Traveller is not my cup of tea at all... it has too many off-flavors for me, such as juniper, perfume and poorly integrated alcohol. Too bad

Belize Tasting with DomM Unfortunately not my cup of tea either, also too alcoholic and sharp-edged. A few were tested that evening, see picture, but unfortunately none of them really convinced me. Doesn't seem to be my profile.
