Enmore Rum Artesanal Guyana Rum MEV 1990
"Very complex and fascinatingly developing flavour" is how one member sums it up, and that's the split here: pencil shavings, anise, dried apricot and herbs on a dry, spicy old Enmore frame. The nose wins most people over — floral, fruity, fresh. On the palate several find it thinner than they hoped for 32 years, with herbs and light bitterness taking over. Give it an hour of air.

- Well-integrated alcohol
- But: Palate falls short

How does Enmore Rum Artesanal Guyana Rum MEV 1990 taste?
Aggregated from 48 community reviews.
Dry, herbal old Enmore with pencil-shaving character Loved by fans of the classic pencil-shavings Enmore profile, though a good few feel the age left it a touch light and the palate doesn't quite match the gorgeous nose.

Tolles Release.

A sample collected at the German Rum Festival in 2024. A lively, fresh nose, different from other Demeraras, with herbs, herbal candy and barely ripe exotic fruit. The alcohol is very present in the first mouthful, then all the aromas of the nose appear and persist. Little influence of wood and unripe fruit, this is a fresh rum. The finish is moderately long and delicate, with almost green fruit and the same light woodiness. You can smell spices and green fruit in the empty glass.

Tasted as part of the RA online tasting for the RumX lottery 06/2023. In the nose anise, pencil shavings, a slight sweetness, but above all fruit, herbs barely perceptible, reminds me surprisingly of the last Worthy Park of RA. Balanced on the palate, but here the herbal notes now come out and gain the upper hand over the fruit. I wonder if this is due to the one hundred percent continental aging. A fine dry rum, of which, however, one sample is enough for me.

Very spicy and powerful taste, with fruity notes of apricot, notes of leather and herbs - no sweetness that could be expressed here - The aftertaste is long and dry with spice. I would like to express my gratitude to Rum Artesanal for the flavor sets 🙏🏻

A successful bottling, but it doesn't quite meet my expectations! It lacks a little complexity and intensity!
Review by Mirco
Typical representative of the 1990 Enmore bottlings. Fits into the usual taste profile from the nose to the finish. However, a touch more pencil and herbs. Still beautifully balanced, of course. Great bottling.

#4180 I hope I step on no ones toes whens I say that this one was disappointing. To me a very light version. I think age caught up with it and thus most of its soul was gone.

Tasted on the 12th GRF: Solid Enmore with a passable basic taste. However, it lacks power, complexity or at least a few rough edges. Update: Better when tasted again, it just needs time. Nice Enmore taste with character, pleasant apricot and a good cask influence, but not too much. Not in the Champions League, but still a good rum from the brilliant Enmore distillery

Somehow great but somehow also unsatisfying. With this rum, I hesitate as to whether I find it brilliant or simply superimposed. On the nose it is extremely floral and I like it fantastically, but on the palate this unfortunately drops off significantly. It remains a very good rum, of course, but one that has probably already passed its zenith. But again: on the nose it's right up there for me.

Sehr feiner Vertreter seiner Art.

Nice one👌🏼 Super balance, very harmonious rum. Fits from the nose to the finish.

RumX Lottery June 23, RA online tasting. A beautiful 33 year old Versailles. I already tasted it at the 12th GRF, but today with a little more rest it comes into its own much better. Nose: intense, round and delicious. I like it very much. Pencil shavings and pencil lead are the first things that come to mind. Behind that a tart sweetness of molasses, licorice and slightly sour. Could also be wood acid. Dark roasted, but not too woody and bitter. A slight honey sweetness rounds off the finish. 8.7 Palate: intense and spicy. Again clearly pencil shavings in the foreground. Slightly bitter with treacle and liquorice. Sweetness from the fruit bread with this candied orange peel and candied lemon peel. Malty, roasted and herbal at the end. 8.5 Takes a while, but then has a very nice profile. The almost 60% are very well integrated. I really like this pencil aroma.

Without a direct comparison, I would prefer the ORS and the old RA. I'll have to compare them soon...

Together with the MEC of FRC at home after the Rumfest tasted again in peace. Yellow fruits and especially a pronounced pencil note, fruity and slightly alcoholic finish, only unfortunately a little short, as I find the whole rum, even for his age, aromatically a little weak on the chest, but for it nice and round. 200 for half a liter I find a bit expensive, even if the rum is quite tasty here.

Surprisingly relaxed Enmore with little bitterness. I would have expected more barrel influence with the long storage period. The alcohol is extremely well integrated. I like it very much. Many thanks to Oli and RA for the sample.

Unfortunately, it doesn't suit me at all. There are clearly better enmores... Even if this Mark MEV is new to me. Find him quite exhausting medicinal and bitter. Alcohol could also be better integrated...

... Enmore - drive destilerka, nyni uz jen funkcni destilacni zarizeni. Rumy Enmore totiz maji prichut popelu, kuze, tezkeho dreva, coz nadchne zejmena milovniky nakourenych whisky. A pokud tradicnim Guyanskym zpusobem prida vyrobce do rumu trochu melasy, mate v lahvi unikatni velmi vyrazny a tezky rum. Jeden z mych oblibenych.

Generally, earthy like pu-erh with forest fruits on the nose and pallete as well. Quite likeable. :)

23-01-2025 By far not my best Enmore. This one is not for me. Missing the thick and oily classic old Enmore.
Review by Sebastian.W
A nice rum, but a bit too much licorice for my taste.

Review by Carlitooo

From the RumX sample set. Nose: herbal. Pinewood. Pencil shavings. Weirdly spiced. No idea what to think of this yet. Taste: dry. Old wood. Hay/malty tones. Not much fruit to discover. Complex. Different layers of spices. Hard to describe and I wish I had more than 2cl so I could try it on a later date again. For now...I do like it.
