Romdeluxe New Yarmouth Wild Series Rum Jamaica No. 39 NYE/WK 2019
One member called it "a Jamaica rum on steroids," and that's the honest picture. New Yarmouth ester funk hits hard: glue, overripe tropical fruit, marzipan and a touch of smoke, all at a brutal 84.7%. Most tasters say rest it and add water or it bites. Wild and fun, but its young age shows — several wished for more barrel time.

Aggregated from 25 community reviews.
Brutal, young New Yarmouth ester bomb Loved by funk fans as a fruity, glue-heavy ester bomb with the alcohol shockingly well integrated. The common gripe: too young, could use more time in the cask.

This is a retasting with the RumX guys. ----- This is a Jamaica rum on steroids, not only because of the ABV, but also the profile itself. Many will probably need to add water because it's like a hammer of flavours. Make sure to rest it for a good while or it will bite, shred and spit you out in a flash. From pouring the nose already reveals where it's from and it just gets better from there. A very intense and complex rum with an oily touch to the palate. Nice fruitiness and I really like the marzipan note in there. Price to quality is pretty good 😊

Post-tasting from the Pueblo del Ron in Nuremberg, where I picked up the sample at Rom de Luxe. I like the nose quite well, but it's a bit rough on the palate. For me, it clearly falls into the category of overpriced, too-short Rom de Luxe experiments. I would need a little more wood ageing for a pleasurable sipping experience and would then be more willing to pay the price.

Great nose with lots of power and some smoke on the back. Some BBQ flavors already noticeable, but also glue. I could smell it all day long. A lot in the mouth at once. Glue also dominates some chemical notes without being too unpleasant. Quite balanced despite the 85% and quite drinkable. Lots of salivation in the finish and again lots of glue. Overall, it seems young and powerful (which it is). Even if it is difficult with the high percentages, I would have wished for longer storage here. In my opinion, the HGML from the GRF was noticeably better and more balanced. Price/availability is not an issue.

Nice and intense bottling. Vast basket of tropical fruits and funky esters combined with marzipan and cookie notes. Compared to the RDL HGML, the latter had a more pronounced impact from the barrel putting it ahead of the NY we have here.

New Yarmouth almost in its purest form, surprisingly smooth for just under 85%. It's amazing how well the alcohol is integrated and how well the virgin oak works here. Romdeluxe really knows how to integrate extremely high percentages well.

What a beast, but in a positive sense! The nose impresses with glue, ester, marzipan and vanilla; all very pronounced! On the palate, everything immediately tightens up, which is natural given the volume of alcohol. It then spreads out oily, esters and glue spread out and are then replaced by a marzipan sweetness and light woodiness. A rather noticeable sour note also asserts itself. All of this with a strong intensity. The finish is long, accompanied by marzipan, wood and tart tropical fruit. In contrast to the HGML, this is simply "wild" but good! But definitely not easy to tame!

Kabooom👊🏻 As soon as you take the cap off, you get a full load of esters and glue (UHU), overripe fruit with delicate marzipan notes. The palate continues with a brute force... The high ester levels make it very furry and astringent. The finish is long, dry, a little astringent, the tropical fruit and marzipan linger on. The alcohol is surprisingly well integrated. It lacks complexity due to its young age, but is still fun (not recommended for beginners)!

Tasted at the Pueblo del Ron Nuremberg 2024. Thanks to the guys from Romdeluxe who gave me this one. With the ABV, this is already a real board. A good "beginner's rum". Joking aside, it's good, but the bottle would be too expensive for the €179 it costs.

Junger, funkiger NY. Jetzt nicht mein Beuteschema, aber sehr gut.
Review by Schleepie
Ester all over, viel Kleber und Funk. Fruchtig ohne Ende, sehr tropisch.

Beautifully sweet, creamy, like caramel. A great choice for rum drinkers who want to switch from sweet syrups to pure spirit. New Yarmouth 1994 rarely disappoints. This is a great choice that you will always want to come back to.
