Marussia Beverages Foursquare The Paulsen Collection 1998

Opinions land in a narrow band here: most call it a relaxed, coconut-forward Foursquare that's easy to like, but nearly everyone flags the 40% dilution for stripping out body and depth. Expect toffee, vanilla, lots of coconut, chocolate and a little citrus, going creamy and gently sweet on the palate. Pleasant and elegant, just missing the punch fans know Foursquare can hit.

The community says
  • Lots of coconut
  • Balanced and elegant
  • But: Thin from dilution

Easy coconut-vanilla Foursquare, light on body Well-balanced and easy-drinking, with big coconut and soft sweetness. Most enjoy it, but the reduction to 40% costs it body and a lasting finish — Foursquare can do more.

the #2 from the Rarities calendar. On the nose, coconut, barrel and a subtle fruitiness towards orange juice and tangerine. On the palate I have nutmeg, which merges into old cask (tannins). Unfortunately, with the dilution, the depth is somewhat lacking, precisely because the recently tasted Raconteur (with its 61%) is still quite present to me.

An old vintage from Foursquare, whose first nose reminded me of a fairly dry rhum agricole, but with strong pastry notes of toffee, brioche, caramel, brown sugar and cookie. The profile gains in woodiness, spice, chocolate, citrus and dried fruit after aeration. It fits into the boxes of a more generalist Foursquare. The attack on the palate is very drinkable and accessible. The dilution makes this rum easy to grasp, but it lacks body and character. The spirit of Foursquare is still present, with coconut, caramel and sweet notes, chocolate, wood and mild spices. The finish is short, rather thin and doesn't have much impact, even if the distillery's hallmarks are present overall. A good rum for relaxing or introducing neophytes to another world, but loses its potential with dilution.

Bereits 2008 abgefüllt und reines Column Still Destillat. 😙🥃

Elegant and surprisingly intensive nose given the low ABV. Unfortunately, this is much more noticeable on the palate. Very pleasant and elegant on the palate yet again. This one is a nice example of an excellent column Rum.
