La Favorite La Flibuste 1995
Prunes, raisins and dark chocolate lead here, wrapped in a syrupy texture that coats the palate — this is a 25-year agricole that drinks nothing like a young grassy Martinique rum. Several tasters catch old tawny port, maple syrup, even a faint cola note over old oak. Rich and mild at 40%, deep rather than lively. The recurring gripe: the age is real, the price is steep.

Color: Reddish umber Aroma: Sweet of raisins, prunes and cocoa. Not very intense, chocolaty. Taste: Sweet with lots of chocolate. Then spicy with time. Fruity (plum) and mild. Finish: Medium length Dry and woody, herbal and spicy with dark chocolate. 88 points

Another very nice release, though not fully up to par with the older versions. Very fruity from nose to finish with a touch of spices and oak. I love the smoky finish on this particular release. Price is pretty high but a good rum none the less.

Review by ElReyTristan
