South Pacific Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 33 FSDP 2009

"This really needs time and maybe a bit of water to open up!" is the recurring advice, and it's spot on. Cask-strength Fiji pot still: glue and lemon peel on the nose, ripe pineapple and banana, then young oak, spice and a vegetal, medicinal edge. Several tasters call it a classic, dirty-workshop Fiji — good, if not the deepest 2009 out there.

How does South Pacific Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 33 FSDP 2009 taste?

Aggregated from 58 community reviews.

Estery, workshop-funk Fiji at cask strength A well-liked Fiji that splits on the finish — the 60,4% is mostly well-integrated, but some find it too hot, bitter and thin. Water helps. Solid, not a revelation.

Fans of dirty, estery Fiji and pot-still funk

First impression at the HanseSpirit:Fulfills exactly the expectations I had and whose fulfillment I had hoped.Fruity, oily, pleasant workshop aromas...Nachtasting follows. So, and now again in peace at home:Nose: totally pleasant, spicy-fruity, with this special oily texture, which together with pencil shavings and some varnish or glue reminiscent of the fumes from a precision engineering workshop. Interesting also an intense yogurt note that underscores the subtle fruity sweetness. In fruit here gooseberry with lime together with canola honey. The over 60% is very well integrated here. 86Palate: initially that oily, artificial attack again, slightly salty-bitter, with pencil mien. Slightly resinous and something like polish to it. The fruit is again reminiscent of gooseberry, this time with lime zest. Also, the yogurt note comes through clearly again. I really like it. 84Must correct the rating from yesterday significantly upwards. Now 85 instead of 80. Very nice Fiji profile!

Only tasted at the fair, so to be enjoyed with caution. Fiji is not necessarily my preferred profile, but tasty I find him definitely. As expected, a nice fruitiness with a candied sweetness. Acidity is also felt throughout here, in the mouth spicy notes also come through more strongly, as well as something almost peaty.Good Fiji representative, but I think to have had better in the glass. For a really fair assessment, I would have to taste him but again in peace at home. To take a bottle but he would have to inspire me even more.
