Enmore (Versailles) S.B.S Guyana 1988
Tar and oily heft up front, then dark chocolate, coffee, raisin and prune roll in over old wood and leather. This is a 1988 Enmore/Versailles wooden pot still from Guyana at 51.8%, dry and bitter on the long, smoky finish. One taster called it the "mildest" of five Enmores side by side — atypical, and the kind of thing a few reviewers found genuinely hard to describe.

How does Enmore (Versailles) S.B.S Guyana 1988 taste?
Aggregated from 28 community reviews.
Oily, tarry old Guyana with bitter finish Deep, oily Demerara that most tasters rated highly — tar, coffee, dark fruit and a long bitter finish. Divisive by nature; the dirty smoky edge is the whole appeal or the sticking point.

This is a great Guyanese rum from S.B.S. With a lot of nose and flawours. A well balanced and complex 28 year rum that you should try if you're a rum nerd.

A warm, full nose. Very mature, smooth and balanced. Complex and spicy. Wood, burnt sugar and spices in the mouth. Not particularly powerful (but far from watered down). Nice finish. A nice, archetypal Demerara, quaffable and enjoyable. For higher consecrations but then lacks the special.

Again a Versailles, which is not immediately apparent in view of the color. Lots of tart spiciness, toasted notes and slight bitterness from the wood as well as subtle tea aromas. To me, it lacks some fresh fruit to bring in more balance. Overall exciting, but not one of my Versailles favorites.
