Christian de Montaguère Licorera Cihuatán Folklore Creación 2022
Tastes like Barbados but isn't — that's the running surprise here. Sixteen years of column-still El Salvador comes across dry and rounded, with barrel wood up front, then vanilla, caramel, coconut and a bit of chocolate. At 53% it stays easy to drink, and several members note how it dodges the sweetness the distillery is known for. Pastry notes without the sugar.

A very good, rather gourmand product where you can really feel the bourbon side with notes of mango and spices. Nice ron, nice surprise, not at all sweet!

Ve vůni cítím sud a sladké tóny čokolády, kokosu a karamelu. Po napití příjemně překvapí absence přesladlosti, vyšší abv a propis sudu, což rum posouvá na chvost produkce značky. Připomíná barbados. Střední závěr.

It's not bad at all, with plenty of age and watts, but still not quite to my taste. There's a smokiness and peatiness that I don't like, as I'm usually looking for more acidity and sharpness. Tried it on the spot at Christian Montaguere in Paris and I recommend all rum lovers in the world to pay it a visit. Absolutely top-notch store in every respect.
