Kenne die Chemie deines Hampden-Rums! Das 8-Marks-Set ist sehr informativ und lehrreich. Das Diamond H Mark ist chemisch ähnlich zu DOK. Viel Ananas und Banane, aber auch bitter schokoladig und leckeres Sahnetoffee. Insgesamt macht dieser Rum auch ohne Lagerung schon einiges her.

Dégustation des 8 marks Hampden. Le nez est complexe, des esters, de la volatile, un léger vinaigre et marqué par la banane mûre. La bouche est un peu pâteuse, sur les fruits jaunes, en particulier la poire avec du beurre et une multiplicité de fruits tropicaux. L’alcool est un peu plus marqué (à cause du léger vinaigre?) La plus longue finale pour l’instant et le verre vide représente un véritable kaléidoscope de fruits tropicaux.

Nr. 5 aus der 8 Marks Collection. Auch wenn wir noch nicht beim DOK angekommen sind, sticht hier der Ester hervor. In der Nase ausserdem Klebstoff, Lösungsmittel und Ananas. Im Gaumen zusätzlich noch Zitrusfrüchte und Säure. Alles in allem gelungen.

Der Fünfte der 8-Marks-Collection. Nun sind wir eindeutig im Bereich von Funk, mit deutlich mehr Dunder und Muck und schon 10 Tagen Fermentation. Nase: nun bin ich endlich bei Hampden. Präsente Ester. Ananas-Marzipan mit Banane und Lösungsmittel. Bei Klebstoff bin ich noch nicht ganz. Dazu aber frische Zitrone und eine feine Essig-Note im Hintergrund. Vielleicht ist da auch schon ein Hauch Honig? Gaumen: säuerliche Ester sind jetzt dominant. Dazu das typische Ananas-Marzipan mit noch deutlich vorhandenem Süßholz. Im Hintergrund und im Abgang ganz leicht wahrnehmbar Kardamom. Dazu wird er hinten raus etwas fettig-nussig und leicht blumig Richtung Veilchen. Wunderbar, dass Ausgangsmaterial von so vielen wunderbaren, gelagerten HD zu verkosten.

Crazy! 🤯 Completely turned around 180° Aromatic. The fruits have moved into the background, but suddenly dark chocolate, roasted nuts, black pepper, green and black (smoky) cardamom and licorice. This was unexpected but I really like it! Definitely the surprise culprit in the series so far.

Big Hampden 8 Marks Collection Tasting <>H unaged: in der Nase viel tropische Früchte (Banane erstmalig leicht zu erkennen) und Ester. Erstmalig auch überreif. Im Gaumen wieder sehr fruchtig (hier Banane nicht mehr zu erkennen)

spannendes Tasting. Einige waren für mich überraschenderweise äusserts lecker und schmackhaft. Die allseits beliebte Destilliere in einem anderen Licht. Das Grundprodukt in dieser Form zu versuchen hat seinen Reiz. Die Reife durch die Lagerung ist dann doch eine andere Hausnummer. Ich hab am Schluss alle 8 Marks zusammen geschüttet und 3 Wochen stehen gelassen, ich muss sagen Top. Alle 8 zusammen ergeben echt ein gutes Profil.

Les esters montent et l’acétone arrive « enfin » dans le profil. Elle écrase un peu les fruits au nez même si en bouche ils reviennent. Un profil aux esters encore gerables, c’est pas le feu en bouche. Pas mal.

Hampden 8 Marks Collection - Aged vs. Unaged: Wieder Klebstoff in der Nase, aber im Vergleich zum HLCF kommt die Frucht langsam wieder. Dazu noten von Mandel oder Marzipan, Geschmacklich ähnlicher Eindruck wie an der Nase. Fazit: keiner der 16 Rums war ein Genuss und die Bewertung ist nur als relativ untereinander zu verstehen. Trotzdem sehr interessant alle Marks unter gleichen Bedingungen zu probieren und die verschiedenen Ausprägungen von Frucht, Klebstoff, Würze und Überraschenderweise oft Umami zu schmecken. Demnächst ein Set mit 3-5 Jahren im Fass?

The third of the 8 Marks tasted in succession and 5th on the ester scale. It had the hallmark pineapple and overripe banana on the palate and nose. More esters / solvents on the nose and palate. On the palate some acidity and bitterness. Very little discernible finish.

тут уже все вперемешку. Резиновый клей, тропические фрукты, сладкий бальзамический уксус, перчинка, кислые оливки каламата, черный шоколад. Невероятно насыщенный и сладкий. Пряный имбирь, все те же оливки, бальзамико и клей.

Tried at the Hampden Masterclass with Daniele Biondi during Whisky Live. Great experience to deconstruct Hampden, although the individual unaged spirits weren’t that great overall. 5. <>H 7.5 Ester getting more prominent, ripe fruits are there. Think I could finally identify this as Hampden :)
