Rum Shark Caroni Caroni 1989
If you already know Caroni and want the softer, sherry-tinged side rather than the tarry, diesel-heavy style, this 33-year-old from Rum Shark is that. Expect wood, honey, mint and a chocolatey, leathery sweetness — one taster calls it "krásně jemné," beautifully gentle. Fans of light Caroni adore it; people chasing the classic petrol funk keep saying it barely tastes like Caroni.

How does Rum Shark Caroni Caroni 1989 taste?
Aggregated from 35 community reviews.
Soft, sherried light Caroni, not the tarry kind Loved as a soft, chocolatey light Caroni with mint and leather, but genuinely divisive — some find the alcohol poorly integrated and miss the classic tarry funk entirely.

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing at the time of its greatest glory rum, which was added at a ratio of 1:10 to the naval blend. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000, the distillery ceased production and closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who took a liking to the rum because of its special taste. And the interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of "you need to try before you die" rums. I recommend it, Caroni is a truly unique rum.

Quite a demanding release. It comes across as a very light rum that still has a few fruity aromas thanks to the finish. Unfortunately, the alcohol is not well integrated. In a direct comparison with the 1989 Caronis, this is my personal laggard.

Really bad. Only neutral alcohol, hardly drinkable. Unfortunately, even the sherry finish doesn't add much value.

Great light caroni

Příjemná chuť s ovocnou sladkostí a silnými mentolovými tóny. Ale nechutná to moc jako Caroni. Klidně bych si panáka dal, ale ne za tu cenu.
