Berry Bros & Rudd Dominican Rum (Kirsch Whisky) 2013
Raisins, dried apricot and a salty, briny edge run through this 8-year Dominican single cask, with spicy port-like wine notes from a Madeira finish that several tasters single out. The nose reads quite woody and alcoholic at 56.6%, but the palate turns full and spicy. One reviewer calls it one of the real surprises of the year — far from the sweet Dominican rums people expect.

Nice solid dom rep with Madeira wine finish. Dried apricots, brine, raisins, sulphur, some honey and popcorn. Alcohol well integrated, Madeira finish binds well and brings an extra complexity.

This bottling was one of the surprises in last year's Advent calendar. Who until now rums from the DomRep alone with bottlings of eg.
