Members kept guessing Jamaica in blind tastings, then found the twist: this is a Worthy Park ester bomb crossed with Guadeloupe agricole. Glue, overripe pineapple and banana up front, then raw sugarcane, herbal tea and a dry, faintly vanilla finish from the small oak. At 66.9% and barely three years old, the alcohol runs hot — most call it a curiosity to try, not a bottle to chase.

RumX Advent calendar day 18 - 17.12.2023 High on glue and medicinal notes, this rum is not of the kind I like. Funny experience for sure being able to try this one, but a rather unpleasant dram for me, a combination driven by the glue and with a bit of vanilla-ey traits adding to the profile.

RumX Kalender Tag 17. Diese Verkostung musste ich nachholen. So ganz holt mich dieser Rum nicht ab. Aber auf jedenfall schön so eine Rarität probieren zu dürfen. Schöner Blend, mehr aber auch nicht leider.

I can clearly see how this was a considerable challenge to pin point in the blind tastings araound Christmas. Only knowing about the components I can identify the distinct WP banana notes on the nose. Very funky and intense. On the palate it becomes noticeable how much work the small oak cask did. Despite the short aging time, there are plenty of vanilla notes present with edges nicely rounded out. I think this was bottled at just about the right time. Well executed and interesting experiment indeed.

Surprenant. Un Jamaicain qui se mêle à un rhum guadeloupéen. La Jamaïque domine nettement ce blend qui aurait à mon sens mérité une plus forte réduction. On est sur des esters, de la colle, de l'ananas. Une pointe légère de canne à sucre.

Vermutlich der überraschendste Rum im Kalender dieses Jahr. Diesen blend mit gerade vier Flaschen hatte wohl keiner auf dem Schirm. Finde ihn aber gelungen. Der Alkohol könnte etwas besser eingebunden sein. Aber ansonsten spannende Kombination aus WPE Profil und Rhum aus Guadeloupe. Vor allem im Finish dominiert das Zuckerrohr. Ich sagte ja schon ich möchte WPE aus Zuckerrohrsaft haben. Das bestätigt mich hierin nur. Bin guter Dinge das wir das erleben werden.

RumX Kalender Tag 27: Interessanter Blend zwischen high ester Jamaica und frischem Agricole. Funktioniert für mich leider nicht ganz, selbst mit Wasser bleibt er recht kantig und nicht sonderlich gut integriert. Trotzdem spannendes Experiment.

Rum X Advent 17.12.2023 4 Flaschen…wow. Habe einige Sips gebraucht aber die Kombo hat was sehr geiles. Gefällt mir gut, im Mund gut Umami. Einzig Alkohol ist mir leicht zu prickelnd.

Calendar #17 / blind Der erste Ester-Kick in der Nase wird nach einiger Zeit im Glas etwas gebändigt. Vanille, kandierte Ananas, Banane, Honig und etwas Klebstoff. Der Alkohol ist kaum präsent. Am Gaumen dann hingegen schon, ein unerwartet starker Antritt, kurz scharf, dann Vanille und sehr viel exotisches Obst. Vanille, Holz, etwas Marzipan und Limette mit sehr viel Ester. Der Abgang ist mittellang und sehr stimmig, Neues kommt nicht hinzu und der Hampden klingt langsam aus.

RumX Adventskalender Nr. 17: Leckeres Teil. Sehr hoher ABV, aber sehr gut eingebunden. Bin kein Fan von High Ester Rums aber hier ist der Esteranteil wirklich perfekt. Hätte auf einen jungen Rum aus Jamaica getippt.

RX calendar day 17 Interesting combo of ester and Agricole notes. The ones that stood out was pineapple and plum. The abv is kind of rough, especially felt with the young age, so not really your sipping rum. Glad to have had opportunity to try this blend.

#24DaysOfRum2023 - Day 17 On the nose quite atypical for what’s in the glass, as I expected a little more punch. It’s rather flat and vague with sweet notes of cream, untoasted marshmallow and caramel blondies. Cutting through come lime zest, red apple skins, plantains and hints of rhubarb pie. In the mouth the distillery shines through a little more clear, but the most prominent flavours remain unexpected and agricole-esque: raw sugarcane, herbal tea, black olives and a very in-your-face note of raspberries gone off. On the palate we do get a more recognisable side of yellow banana and whipped cream. The finish is dry and medium in length with fresh raspberries flanked with more agricole notes, Jasmin tea and herbs. With 4 bottles, this is probably the rarest glass I’ll ever drink, interesting, but I would not need a bottle of this.

Alkohol ist nicht gut eingebunden. Zu Beginn eine feine fruchtige Note. Im Abgang dominiert dann der Agricole mit Holznote. Das ist nicht schlecht, aber überzeugt hat es mich auch nicht.

RumX Adventskalender 17.12.23: Böses Brett heute. Jamaika, high Ester, kurze Reifezeit (<3 Jahre), ich würde den ABV noch höher ansetzen, >75% oder so. Kann mich nicht komplett zwischen Long Pond und Hampden entscheiden, daher heute zwei Tipps: RX13155 oder RX16511.
