Destileria Sofa Plantation Venezuela One-Time 2010
Sip this neat and you get vanilla, toffee and dried fruit with a clear cognac-cask note from the four years in Ferrand barrels. At 52% it drinks fuller than most Venezuelan rums, though a few tasters find the alcohol a touch sharp. Not too sweet, easy-going, with a surprisingly long finish. Pleasant Spanish-style profile that most call decent rather than remarkable.

How does Destileria Sofa Plantation Venezuela One-Time 2010 taste?
Aggregated from 59 community reviews.
Vanilla-toffee Venezuelan with a cognac-cask twist Most land in the high 70s: a nicely balanced Venezuelan with vanilla, caramel and cognac fruit, not overly sweet. The catch is the heat, and several found it fine but unremarkable.

#4277 02.10.2023 Thinking about the price tag you get a lot for your money. This is also a rum suited for beginners once rested. Medium fruity profile with nice spices amd roasted wood notes. The palate is light and lives up to the nose. The finish is medium long and has some added orange to it. The empty glass has very light chocolate notes to it.
Review by Eric Frechin
A rather pleasant rum overall, with slightly spicy, warm notes (dark chocolate/coffee) and a hint of raisin and walnut. I'd say it's the least typical of the under the see series.

The alcohol is a little sharp. Otherwise it would have been rated 80. But the aromas are typical for Central America. Strong vanilla and toffee flavors. But it's nice that it has no dosage. You can give it a try

A Venezuelan rum quite easy to access but with a little more character. The nose is quite dry, with some fruity notes, wood, spices, hazelnut and chocolate accompanying the caramelized sweetness. The attack in the mouth is smooth, with a syrupy texture. The sweetness of the spices and caramel mingle with subtle wood and light fruity flavors. The whole is not surprising, but it remains balanced. The 52% is well integrated. The medium-long finish is dry, a bit spicy, with light roasted, woody, chocolate and vanilla notes. We also perceive burnt sugar and dried fruits. Not bad for a Hispanic rum, the higher alcohol content helps to raise the level of the juice, most of which is often too diluted.

Absolutely average, not able to convince me.

Somehow very unbalanced and sweet and spicy....

Trying a bottle I bought earlier on in my rum journey but hadn’t gotten to. These days I don’t buy Plantation/ Planteray. The box, bottle design and artwork are fantastic for this rum and this series. The rum here is good but nothing special. It is easy drinking, with a standard Spanish style barrel driven flavour profile of vanilla and some caramel. There is a little spice to it and maybe some green apple and cognac on the palate.

Not my favourite Venezuela tbh...

At last a Venezuelan that's not too reduced (52%) and not too sweet! Very pleasant and easy to drink!

Bought this one tonight as a found it by chance in the well-assorted supermarket. I really like the design of the Plantation OTLE‘s and especially this one. Anyway, the nose is a fruity mixture of vanilla, raisin and almond. Also the four years in the Ferrand cask adds a strong cognac note. The taste has strong vanilla and mango notes, not too sweet with a hint of apple and spices. The long finish is more spicy and fruity still with a strong mango note and some burnt sugar. Nice and solid rum in the high seventies.

Light even it is 52% ABV. creamy, toffee. Banana, mango. On palate it have pretty much sweetness it self. Comes more intense now, I could say on palate it is better than on nose. Not bad rum, I enjoyed. Score could be higher 70s
