N. Kröger Foursquare Wagemut Special Edition 2022
Opinions land all over the place here: some call it a favorite, others find it pleasant but a bit flat. It's a 16-year Foursquare finished in a small PX cask, so expect sherry, raisin and dried apricot over the usual vanilla-caramel base, plus milk chocolate and a touch of banana. A couple of tasters feel the PX flattens the Foursquare character and makes it a little interchangeable.

Was soll ich sagen, ein megageiles Teil. Vorab vielen Dank an Tim für dieses geile Sample. Nase und Gaumen leicht süss, holzig und auch würzig/alkoholisch. Der Alkohol ist echt kaum zu schmecken. Mega, liebe ihn.

Beim zweiten Verkosten musste ich ihn leider etwas nach unten korrigieren. Es bleibt dennoch ein guter Rum den ich mir ins Regal stellen werde. Geschmacklich bleibt er der Linie treu. Liebhaber von Barbados-Rum werden nicht enttäuscht

Also, die erste Verkostung überzeugt mich leider nicht so wie erwartet, die weiteren schon etwas nehr. Auf dem Papier ein vielversprechender Rum zu einem sehr guten Preis, aber leider weder an der Nase, noch im Mund wirklich ausgezeichnet. Sherry und süßer Sirup im Mund, das hohe Alter aus Barbados im Bourbon-Fass findet man leider nicht so leicht. Nicht der beste Foursquare, aber für den Preis immer noch ziemlich gut.

Die Sonderabfüllung gefällt mir wirklich gut. Aufgrund der Fassstärke ist ordentlich Power dahinter. Deutlich trockner als die normale Abfüllung. Preis-Leistung für mich in Ordnung. 2. Verkostung - es geht nochmal einen Punkt rauf :)

Blind Tasting: Nase geht Richtung Port Finish, am Gaumen schön rund, deutliches Finish wahrnehmbar, schöne Süße , rund, Alkohol gut eingebunden. Grundstoff ist schwierig, könnte FS oder ein Jamaikaner wie WP wegen leichter Fruchtnote sein. Ingesamt sehr gut.

Durfte mir von dem hier netterweise etwas bei Christoph abzapfen, danke dafür. Eine Flasche hätte ich mir nicht besorgt, die sollen schön für die N.K. Fanbase bleiben 😉 Nase: das Foursquare-Profil kommt deutlich, zu Beginn etwas stechend, dann aber doch recht weich mit seinen würzig-holzigen und fruchtigen Aromen von Banane und einem Hauch Kokos. Sehr deutlich ist aber auch das eine Jahr Nachreifung in einem kleinen PX-Fass zu erkennen. Deutlicher Sherry-Einfluss mit süßlichen, leicht rauchigen Aromen. Vanille mit Sahnekaramell und geschwefelter, getrockneter Aprikose. Geht in Ordnung. 8,0 Gaumen: hier dominiert der PX-Sherry. Das kleine PX-Cask hat viel von der Süße an den Rum abgegeben. Dazu die typischen, rauchigen PX-Aromen von getrockneter, geschwefelter Aprikose mit Rosinen. Dahinter die solide Basis eines Foursquares, der sich mit Vanille und Karamell präsentiert. Zu viel PX, sonst ok. 7,6 Handwerklich gut gemacht, sehr zugänglich, besonderes für Einsteiger. Das PX-Fass egalisiert jedoch und macht diesen Rum auch irgendwie austauschbar.

Für mich besser als die 21er Edition. Trotzdem ziemlich flach und nicht herausragend. Braucht ein bisschen im Glas, um die störenden alkoholischen Noten abzubauen. Dann ein wenig Gebäck, Schokolade, leichte Süße und trotz 56% ziemlich mild. Aber unter dem Strich zu wenig, um mehr als ein gut trinkbarer Rum zu sein. Nichts außergewöhnliches.
