Die erste Verkostung überzeugte mich leider nicht so wie erwartet, die weiteren schon etwas mehr. Auf dem Papier ein vielversprechender Rum zu einem sehr guten Preis, aber leider weder an der Nase, noch im Mund wirklich ausgezeichnet. Sherry und süßer Sirup im Mund, das hohe Alter aus Barbados im Bourbon-Fass findet man leider nicht so leicht. Nicht der beste Foursquare und auf jeden Fall nicht auf ECS-Niveau, aber für den Preis immer noch ziemlich gut.

I was kind enough to get some of this from Christoph, thanks for that. I wouldn't have got myself a bottle, they should be nice for the N.K. fanbase 😉 Nose: the Foursquare profile comes across clearly, a little pungent at the beginning, but then quite soft with its spicy-woody and fruity aromas of banana and a hint of coconut. However, the one year of maturation in a small PX cask is also very clearly recognizable. A clear sherry influence with sweetish, slightly smoky aromas. Vanilla with cream caramel and sulphurized, dried apricot. Is alright. 8,0 Palate: the PX sherry dominates here. The small PX cask has given up a lot of its sweetness to the rum. In addition, the typical smoky PX aromas of dried, sulphurized apricot with raisins. Behind this is the solid base of a Foursquare, which presents itself with vanilla and caramel. Too much PX, otherwise ok. 7,6 Well-crafted, very accessible, especially for beginners. However, the PX cask equalizes and makes this rum somehow interchangeable.

Relatively easy drinking, and somewhat interesting but a tad disappointing. Nose presents a lighter, fruitier and fresher nose than most Foursquares. Milk chocolate, lighter wood, some alcohol and deep caramel. Finally settles into a toblerone/nougat notes with raisin On the palate the sweetness from the Sherry cask is immediately present. Fruitiness, a little heat, then some roasty, bitter wood before finishing up with chocolate, raisin and sherry. This is definitely not my fave but not terrible either.

Blind Tasting: Nose goes towards port finish, nicely round on the palate, clear finish perceptible, nice sweetness, round, alcohol well integrated. Base is difficult, could be FS or a Jamaican like WP because of the light fruity note. Overall very good.

What can I say, a mega cool piece. First of all, many thanks to Tim for this great sample. Nose and palate slightly sweet, woody and also spicy/alcoholic. You can hardly taste the alcohol. Mega, love it.

Die Sonderabfüllung gefällt mir wirklich gut. Aufgrund der Fassstärke ist ordentlich Power dahinter. Deutlich trockner als die normale Abfüllung. Preis-Leistung für mich in Ordnung. 2. Verkostung - es geht nochmal einen Punkt rauf :)

28.02.2023 Enjoying some sample at home with a good friend. Colour Medium dark to dark in colour. Nose Fresh, light wood, light roasted, sweet, faint caramel, light pineapple, light sherry. Palate Round, fresh, sweet, light wood, faint smoke, fruits, light banana, light sherry, faint coconut, faint caramel. Finish Medium to long, round, wood, light roasted, Licht caramel, faint chocolate, dried fruit.

Für mich besser als die 21er Edition. Trotzdem ziemlich flach und nicht herausragend. Braucht ein bisschen im Glas, um die störenden alkoholischen Noten abzubauen. Dann ein wenig Gebäck, Schokolade, leichte Süße und trotz 56% ziemlich mild. Aber unter dem Strich zu wenig, um mehr als ein gut trinkbarer Rum zu sein. Nichts außergewöhnliches.
