HSE Parcellaire #2 « Canne d'Or » 2019

Fresh sugarcane, mint and anise lead here, with lime and a floral, tea-like edge that a couple of tasters said smells more like tea than rum. The palate turns silky and a touch oily, rounder than the 55% suggests. Several members reach for it in a ti-punch, where it shines. One reviewer found it a little simple after the hype, but most enjoy the perfume.

The community says
  • Fresh sugarcane
  • Silky, round body
  • But: Anise-heavy finish

Very restrained nose, more like tea than rum. The taste is very noble for it, creamy silky with a hint of mint and citrus fruits which also remain in the finish. Brings in the Ti-Punch compared to the "standard" HSE 55% once again a nice own note of rum.

The nose is intriguing with custard, a bit of butter, citrus and some fermented at the end. The palate is initially alcoholic/grappa and pungent with citrus, but soon after melts into dense, silky cane sweetness with added roasted hazelnuts. In the finish charred notes add to the bouquet. I liked the aroma more than the flavor. In the empty glass it is floral, fermented and almost woody.

Geruch: unspektakulär; Geschmack: fetzt! intensiv, typisch HSE. Machste Ti Punch, biste glücklich.

Beautiful texture. I find a very buttery side with flowers and white fruits.

Avg Rating 8.0/10 over 330 Rums

Le Simon is Martinique's ghostwriter. It is the island's most technologically advanced distillery, yet it sells no rum under its own name, runs no public tours, and ages nothing on site. Instead it distils two of the most beloved names in Martinique agricole, HSE and, until recently, Clement, on stills moved here from their original homes. What you taste as HSE is, in fact, Le Simon.
