CDI Port Mourant Guyana 2013
"Nice PM even though this one is young" sums up the mood here. This is a continental-aged Port Mourant that leans dry and woody, with peach, black licorice and a salty, peppery bite. Several tasters flag its youth and a lack of complexity, but the alcohol is well integrated at 57.6% and the peach-iced-tea note wins people over. Straightforward, not a big statement.

How does CDI Port Mourant Guyana 2013 taste?
Aggregated from 25 community reviews.
Dry, young Port Mourant with peach and licorice Most find it a well-made, dry young PM — salty, licorice-heavy, peachy — with good alcohol integration. The catch: thinner and simpler than the ABV and nose suggest.

Very nice daily sipper at a remarkable price tag! According to the key data and the awesome nose I’ve expected a bit more, because on the palate it seems really thin/soft… Blindly I would gave it never ever an ABV of 50+… The finish is dry and delicious, just right for a easy evening

Tasted during a spontaneous sample swap at Serge's at lunchtime. In conclusion, we have to admit that it's not a real highlight, but it certainly delivers in terms of vintage and price. A positive surprise.

A very woody nose, but with young wood and sandalwood. A vegetal side too, with dried herbs and a fermented side. The whole gives the impression of cold peach tea. A fairly frank attack, alcoholic but diluted at the same time. The wood is quite pronounced and the peach cold tea is just as present as on the nose. The aromas are rather light. The finish is correct, slightly bitter, woody and tannic (long-brewed tea). A rather simple but successful rum with good length and interesting aromas.

Alcohol is well integrated, nice PM, not a complexity monster, but I like it!

Vertical PM tasting: 89 / 95 /97 / 97 (cognac finish) / 02 / 05 / 13 Nose: despite being the youngest in the batch, the nose is pretty well balanced. Classic PM notes with some salt and some sweetness. Palate: also pleasantly surprise. Very round and approachable. The PM profile remains somewhat challenging but in comparison to other young(er) continental PMs this is well balanced with very good alcohol integration. On the other hand it is very straight forward lacking complexity. Not bad at all if you enjoy the PM profile, however.

Overall, a surprisingly powerful and complex Guyana port mourant considering its young age! I especially like the buttery spicy notes of peach, mirabelle, bitter orange and salted brioche and some bitter licorice and nutmeg. In terms of continental aged Guyana rums one of the best I had tasted to date.... Even if I am altogether more fan of tropical maturation!

Intense and multi-layered, clearly recognizable PM. Nose: the alcohol is a little biting at the beginning and is reminiscent of solvents. Once the nose gets used to it, a very nice, fresh and intense citrus note comes through. Sweet and sour lemon and lime come together here. It reminds me of washing-up liquid, but of a good one ☺️. Behind the freshness, there is a little honey. I like it. 8.3 Palate: typical PM, little fruit but strong, spicy and bitter. Salty attack with black pepper, a little nutmeg and bitter lemon peel. Seems hard and burnt. Then it becomes a little more delicate and the sweeter side of the lemon comes through. Some green tea in the rather short finish. Can do something. 7,9

A nice Port Mourant with just a hint of funkyness. It also has a prominent liquorice note.

Young and unashamed but still quite drinkable.

I actually like it quite well. ABV fits, nose is nice and fruity and the palate nice and dry with the right notes. Pleasant PM.
