The Rum Mercenary & Kintra Enmore Sample X

Most tasters land on the same word: elegant. This 20-year Enmore is unusually mild for its age — floral and fresh on the nose, then honey, licorice, plum, roasted almond and soft wood on the palate. The 50.6% barely shows. Lovers call it delicate and finely balanced; a handful find it too light and short. Don't pour anything heavy before it.

The community says
  • Floral, elegant nose
  • ABV well hidden
  • But: Very light body

Very great complex Enmore. Floral/flowers. The whole deal. Lighty subtle flavours. Got a bottle of this. Yay! Second taste, after I got the bottle: First of all this is very well priced for a 20yr old enmore. 120-140€. Nose: subtle fruity flavours. Some hay. Give it time to open up. Anise Taste: same. Yellow fruits. Everything here is delicate. Don't drink heavy or woody rums before this. It'll kill the palate.

Rarely tasted a rum that has been stored for so long and at the same time tastes so boring and bland. Some yellow fruit, sweetness, floral notes. Despite the alcohol content, the rum is thin in the mouth. No off-notes per se, but also nothing that makes the rum interesting in any way.

8,4:On the nose, the first impression we get is flowery and metallic, roasted wood brings brioche and almonds, cocoa and spices, the fruits are candied, sweet, dried and citrus. On aeration, strong vegetal aspect is shown with tobacco, lavender and geranium, fruity with banana, mandarine and red fruits. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is sweet and roasted with wood notes like honey, caramel, brioche, leather, nuts and red, yellow with peaches, dried fruits with raisins. It is elegant and delicious, inspite of a little dirty patina and copper, spicy with chilli, salt, dark, syrupy with licorice and fruits like banana, prunes, also herbaceous, flowery. 8,4:The finish is long, dry, coppery and tannic, with strong vegetal aspect, roastedness and fruity tones...

Alkohol sehr gut eingebunden. Mir fehlt im Gaumen das gewisse etwas.

Extremely mild for 20 years. Very floral, flowery nose, subtle yellow fruit aromas. The whole thing continues on the palate. Extremely mild and you don't notice the 50% at any time. Very well crafted, but for me it lacks depth.

Enmore

Avg Rating 8.8/10 over 210 Rums

Enmore gave the world the last wooden Coffey still, built here around 1880 and still running at Diamond. It is also one of only two Guyanese estates where you can actually buy rum distilled while the place was open: 17 vintages between 1962 and its closure in April 1994. On most Demerara pages that sentence is not true.
