Espiritus Pixan - 8 Años
Poured neat it's sweet and a little hot at the same time — vanilla and banana on the nose, with tobacco and a whiff of something that turns solvent-like partway through. In the glass it's round but goes flat fast, and a few tasters caught an "artificial tasting, bitter aftertaste." Most people who liked it reached for a mixer instead.

Dégustation calendrier de l’avent. Ce rhum nous avait plu avec mon fils. Très bien équilibré et suave ! Puis le 8 juillet 2023 avec Baptiste qui n’aime pas du tout ! Effectivement très rond et caramel, ce n’est pas du rhum à l’état pur…

Incredibly sweet and on top of it alcoholic. It would do very well within a mixer but would recommend not to add anything that is sweet. It is pleasant but would very much opt to include it in mixers instead of straight. Do not recommend it to ppl who are not used to alcohol.

It’s really nothing wrong with it, but it doesn’t appeal to me. By the way Pixan is Mayan and means “Spirit which gives life”. The nose is herbal and round with aromas of fruit and vanilla. At the palate the aroma comes back as flavors together with significant sweetness.

Read full review →This has won awards and received favourable reviews elsewhere (you can probably guess from who), quite what those judges and reviewers are tasting and thinking is good rum, is frankly beyond me. The Spirit that gives life? It's just giving me a fucking headache to be honest.
