"Leider etwas schwach" sums up the recurring gripe: this 32-year Uitvlugt is a light, subtle Guyanese. Expect pencil-shavings wood, dried fruit, anise and a dry, metallic, slightly medicinal finish. Several tasters loved its easy drinkability; others wished the 45.2% carried more of the classic Uitvlugt punch. Old and characterful, but gentle rather than bold.

04.05.2024 Retasting during a nice exclusive tasting at Romdeluxe. I stick to my score and I still love it. -------------------------- #4027 We lined up this one and its brother with the same age and this one looses big time. This is a more subtle rum and I'm in no doubt that it's because of the ABV. All notes are kind of light. Fruity a sn woodsy with roasted notes and the nose is extremely light. Easy drinkable and I think most would be able to drink it. Draws amazing curtains in the glass whereas the empty glass fades quickly. Adding some of its more powerful brother reveals a more balanced rum 😊

I tasted this rum a month ago but didn’t take any notes. I just remember that I liked it a lot, will try to sample it again at some point and take notes this time.

Very bitter, woody and medicinal. Very astringent in the finish, like chewing on pencils. Not quite my thing. Also has a rather sharp, alcoholic and metallic effect on me. Sorry, but it doesn't appeal to me.

I know that 30+yo Uitvlugt rum is rare, but.. this one taste more than like a water than a rum. The Uitvlugt profile is realy weak. I preffer 80 bottles of cask strength than 130 bottles of 45%
