Neisson 15 ans 2005
The nose opens on superglue and polish before it turns friendly — vanilla, macaroons, toasted hazelnut and fresh-pressed sugarcane, the Neisson signature. Give it air and tobacco steps forward. The palate goes darker and drier: oak, nutmeg, dark chocolate and coffee. Elegant and complex, though a couple of tasters feel the wood gets a bit heavy-handed for 15 years.

Elegant aged Martinique agricole, wood-forward Widely liked as a fine, balanced agricole — the split is over the oak, which some find too much, and a few name older Neissons they rate higher.

on the nose at first almost something unpleasant towards superglue, then slightly acidic root vegetables, nutty notes, caraway, nutmeg, tobacco, caramel and papaya. On the palate, wood barrel, nutmeg, chocolate. Finishes toasty and dark chocolate/cocoa. Again a good Neisson, however, in the 2005 vintage the competition of good Neissons is great, and eg the Velier 70th still clearly better.

Review by Joachim Guger
First glue and polish, let it breathe a little. Then spice, moderate wood maturity for 15 years and the macaroons and almonds typical of Neisson. Slightly animal, some mango. Very complex, well balanced. Wood dominates in the mouth, far too much of it. This is followed by some mango and macaroons, it doesn't really excite. The finish could be longer. The nose meets the high expectations, but then there is too much wood. Of course a very good rum, but there are clearly better Neissons.

Though overpriced, like always with the older bottling, this is a nicely balanced rum Agricole. The Agricole notes are there from nose to finish with some added fruits, spices and roasted wood.

Review by Righrum
Simply amazing. Neisson is always a hit, and these releases are wonderful. Wood and spices, especially cumin, in the nose, the palate adds a lot of chocolate to the palette. Perfect alcool integration, and a really long finish.

Line up Neisson.
