Valinch & Mallet C.A.D.C The Spirit of Art (Traditional Rum) 2004

The surprise here is how gentle a 56.3% rum can drink. Deeply reduced and dark from long years in charred casks, it leans on wood, coffee, chocolate and green pepper, with orange peel and vanilla rounding it out. The alcohol is tucked away well. One member reads it as mostly Foursquare with a splash of Demerara — rounded, easy, but not the most exciting pour.

The community says
  • Integrated alcohol
  • Coffee-chocolate depth
  • Not very complex

Taste of wood, pepper, orange peel and vanilla and notes of toffee - aftertaste of vanilla, chocolate and wood. I would rate it as a pleasant and easy drinking rum 👍

This one is amazing! Full taste, integrated alcohol, taste like blend of 70% FSQ and 30% of Demerara

Very reduced and heavy. Roasty and strong. Alcohol quite well integrated and also a nice age. Intense wood notes meet strong coffee notes. Round, unfortunately not particularly complex, therefore not a particular highlight.

Quite pleasing, if unspectacular profile. Chocolate, vanilla, toffee, latte, subtle citrus notes. The taste is quite round, but not particularly exciting - because not much else happens.
