Fiji Rum & Co Plantation Fiji Islands (Julhes) 2001
"Very much on the whisky" is how one taster put it, and that's the crux here: a 20-year Fiji pot-still whose funky rubber, overripe banana and glue notes get wrapped in a smoky, peaty whisky-cask finish. Several found the two harmonize nicely; others felt the whisky buried the Fiji character. Dry, spicy, oaky, with a long finish and little sweetness.

How does Fiji Rum & Co Plantation Fiji Islands (Julhes) 2001 taste?
Aggregated from 28 community reviews.
Smoky whisky-finished Fiji with rubbery funk Divides people: the smoky whisky finish either marries the Fiji funk beautifully or drowns it. Dry, spicy, big flavor. A few wished for a higher ABV.

In this Plantation bottling, the fiji flavors harmonize beautifully with the whiskey finish. I like very much.

The typical 2001 Fiji notes are there. Rubber gum gum gum. Of course it suffers from dilution, but either way a successful bottling and worth a purchase.

On The Rocks: On the nose it has a very strong fruit presence with underlying floral, spice and oak notes. The aroma is quite strong and you will smell it beyond your glass in the room. Taste has a stronger spice and oak taste with fruit taking a back seat with mild underlying hints. There is a slightly bitter taste as it lacks the expected sweetness. The spice is very present with a little burn. Finish is very long and distinct with reasonable complexity. This is a very interesting rum release that is very much a flavour bomb overall. Nice sipping in small quantities. Do not pour a larger glass as it will be overwhelming. Mixed Pepsi Zero: On the nose a dusty old warehouse. Taste reveals a mild bourbon that is slightly bitter with a short finish. Not really enjoyable mixed and would suggest on the rocks.

04-05.11.2022 Den Danske Rom & Whiskyfestival 2022. Another return to this big event where many people go to get drunk. Once again we had a special event for a select set of people. Notes. Pretty average release with a sweet touch. I think the major flaw is the low ABV, could have been a lot better with a higher ABV I think. Fruity and spicy with smoke and peat notes once rested.

There is not too much left of the Fiji here! The whiskey finish dominates too much
