Silver Seal Enmore Demerara 2002
One taster called it "a round rum which lacks a bit of complexity" — and that sums up the divide. You get classic Enmore wood, caramel and licorice with plum, leather and a whiff of iodine, but at 46% several found it thin, even "too watery." A slightly bitter finish trims the score. The bones are good; you can feel a bigger, full-proof version hiding underneath.

How does Silver Seal Enmore Demerara 2002 taste?
Aggregated from 17 community reviews.
Woody Enmore, good bones but a bit thin A likeable Enmore with wood, caramel and licorice, but the 46% strength leaves it a touch watery and flat. Bitter finish for some; a stronger version would clearly shine.

Mediocre bottling with solid drinkability, but no major highlights. The profile remains rather flat, with little development. There is a slightly bitter note on the finish, which tarnishes the overall impression somewhat. Not a total outlier on the downside, but nothing memorable either.

Nice release from Silver Seal. A round rum which lacks a bit of complexity and depth on the palate. However, we can clearly feel there is a strong basis and one can imagine how good the full proof version can be !

... Enmore - drive distiller, now just a functional distillation device. Apparently the only wooden still in the world which is very popular. The Enmore rums have a flavour of ash, leather, heavy wood, which will delight especially the lovers of whiskey. And if in the traditional Guyanese way the producer adds a little molasses to the rum, you have a unique very distinctive and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favourites.

An excellent Enmore, even if 46% ABV is rather low, this rum offers EVERYTHING I expect from a very good rum, from the first impression to the last sip—a great taste experience.

Read full review →Expensive but overall a very good rum. It has certainly piqued my interest in more aged Enmore expressions going forward. I've resisted the urge to drop it half a mark based on price as I don't think that wouldn't be fair. It is a piece of history after all. A...
