Caroni S.B.S The Beast #3 1993
Sipped neat is the only way anyone tries this, and most regret it. The nose wins people over — black tea, tar, rubber, licorice, a little pear and cherry — then the palate turns brutal: bitter, sour, medicinal, drenched in menthol. One taster called it "TV-static with liquorice." A wild, divisive Caroni that's more experiment than pleasure.
The community says- Fascinating nose
- Brutally bitter palate
- Medicinal menthol

How does Caroni S.B.S The Beast #3 1993 taste?
Aggregated from 50 community reviews.
Intense Caroni: great nose, brutal bitter palate Almost everyone loves the nose and dreads the palate — bitter, medicinal, menthol-heavy and one-dimensional. A few prize its raw intensity; most say a sample was plenty.

Disappointing for a Caroni, but for those who like to lick fresh tar, it might be okay. Update: I've now tried it again with a little distance. There's something about it, somehow it reminds me of my younger years when I was 14 and took two puffs of a menthol cigarette before I got caught. I just had a taste like that in the finish. It's a very cool piece in any case. The smell is really great, but you can't say the same about the taste.

This is the worst of the 3 releases. Kind of like smelling, locking and drinking a chemical factory. Maybe they brewed this at BASF 😂

This is times full on the face! Bitterness, gasoline, varnish, wood. Phew, it is extreme in any case. But to drink maybe then rather not...

Giving this one a couple of goes over a view weeks, there is no denying: this is just not very good. While I do enjoy the nose, the rest is simply mean and makes for an interesting experience but nothing more.

Danke an Dom fürs Sample!

Do you know this too? Tank empty, it takes until a helpful Thai lady with freshly brushed teeth comes by and asks, do you want to suck on my hose? Exactly, not a nice experience.

Caroni is clearly recognizable on the nose - but rather with heavy varnish and rubber associations. A balancing fruit component is unfortunately completely missing. Much Taninne and too long drawn black tea. On the palate, the rum unfortunately drifts into less enjoyable directions. A lot of black tea, licorice, bitter notes and slight acidity - virtually the opposite of an "easy sipper". The strong bitter note remains in the finish and I do not like unfortunately at all.Reminds of the DNA something of the 36th Release of Velier. Interesting to have had this experiment times in the glass, but with "pleasure" it has nothing to do... 🤓

Extreme splitter! Wood and Mentol in pure form!

Was the nose still relatively Caroni-like with minimal berry aroma is the palate for me hardly enjoyable! Bitter, medicinal, woody, sour and old tobacco! In the finish appears after some time, in addition to the just mentioned flavors still some dried fruit! No, , this is definitely not something I like to drink

An der Nase fast positiv überrascht. Klar erkennbare Caroni Marker mit Gummi, Plastik, Trockenfrüchten. Am Gaumen: brrrrr, was ist das? Altöl in Menthol?
Review by DosenZorn
On the nose a great fruit note of pear and peach, mixed with dirty Caroni notes in the form of rubber and tar. In addition, perceptible wood influence of storage. With some time the fruit notes become more restrained, instead tea and varnish push themselves into the foreground. Nose 81/100On the palate then the disappointment. Almost unpleasant with an extreme intensity somewhere between soap and peppermint/menthol. In addition, quite intensely sour and somewhat woody. So this is where the beast got its name. Unfortunately not in a positive sense. Palate 42/100Conclusion: great intense nose, otherwise disappointing on the palate.

Not so bad as its younger brother, but still terible - bitter, sour, like licking detergent ... A zajem rostl. Caroni patri do kategorie rumu "you need to try before you die". Doporucuji, Caroni je opravdu unikatni rum.

You should be glad that it was the last beast. Unfortunately, not really enjoyable. The nose prevents an even worse rating.

Wow, what's that? Interesting on the nose at first, but a complete failure on the palate. Woody toilet stone meets furniture polish.

The nose I found actually still quite interesting, the taste has me then but unfortunately no fun. Clearly overlaid and thus much too bitter and also somehow one-dimensional.
