The amber colored Papillon Brun is distilled at the Esperance distillery in their creole column whereafter it’s aged in new American oak barrels and former bourbon casks for 6 months before bottled. Overall a rum with a pleasant sweetness and a beautiful roundness despite the short aging. Actually with a remarkable balance.

Dégusté en 3 fois avec un sample de 5cl. J avais été assez emballé par le blanc et j étais curieux de voir son évolution après un court vieillissement. Dans l ensemble ça reste plutôt linéaire. C est pas désagréable, mais pas transcendant non plus. Je pense que ce rhum doux demanderait un vieillissement plus long avec un fût spécial qui lui apporterait du fun.

Un petit vieux doux, assez classique et un peu plat mais avec une bonne longueur , un très bon rapport qualité-prix. Nez: beaucoup d'ethers de jeunesse au début, qui s'estompent vite et disparaissent après quelques minutes d'aération. Des fruits à coques, amandes, pas grand chose d'autre. Bouche: très doux, fruits confits et cuir, à bien faire tourner pour dévoiler les saveurs, il faut un peu le "provoquer" tant il est facile à boire. La longueur est correct et reste sur les tons de la bouche avec un peu de cuir. Au total un petit vieux bien présenté, accessible et facile, sans prétention, idéal en récréatif de journée ou pour découvrir le monde du rhum en douceur.
