TRC Hampden Jamaica DOK 2009
Grilled pineapple, glue and fruity marzipan, wrapped in the thick ester funk that DOK is known for. This 2009 Hampden, 12 years in the cask, drinks creamy and rounded for its strength — several tasters call the 64.5% almost invisible. A few note a green-apple sharpness and astringent dry edge at full proof that a drop of water tames. Deep, oily, endlessly long.

How does TRC Hampden Jamaica DOK 2009 taste?
Aggregated from 49 community reviews.
Rounded, ester-heavy Hampden DOK sipper A near-unanimous hit with Hampden fans — full esters, tropical fruit and a cask that rounded off DOK's rough edges. The one catch: at cask strength it turns astringent, so add water.

Strong DOK !!! Hampden par excellence ... Strong ester nose paired with a delicious fruit body alcohol sticks in view of the 64.5% hardly in the nose ... On the palate you notice the alcohol a little more but never disturbing quite the opposite he brings the HD gene in its most beautiful form (pineapple, mango, honey and a portion of UHU) in the mouth ... simply brilliant !!! For me personally one of the best DOK bottlings of all time.

Since the early rise was worth it I love this funk of high ester! And if they then come along as smooth as in this bottling ... then everything is perfect 🤩! This DOK is just fun to drink ...

💥🤯🥃The relationship to the LoM is clearly recognizable. However, the additional aging gives the DOK a nice boost of complexity and "balance". A real explosion of flavor. Wow, the rum is really fun!Compared to the CDI DOK a little rounder and more barrel influence. Perfectly integrated alcohol.

Very good DOK and what concerns the older DOKs probably the best to date. Alcohol is top integrated, taste the fruit notes are unfortunately somewhat lost for a lot of funk and spice. Almost already slightly fleshy bacon-like impression in part. Overall, a really good DOK, but I still prefer the younger bottlings.

#4605 08.02.2024 Preparing for the "Nordlichter" tasting tomorrow ☺️ This one needs to rest for a good while in order to open up. Once it's ready it's a really nice DOK. Nose Intense, faint wood, ester, glue, pineapple, light floral, faint marzipan, nice and funky. Palate Intense, oily, light wood, pineapple, ester, faint caramel, well balanced, nice funk. Finish Very long, warm, intense, light wood, pineapple, light nutts. The empty glass has more intense marzipan and light chocolate as well as a faint ginger note.

History in a glass. The rest of the legendary LOM barrel was bottled. I think you can confidently speak of the best DOK ever bottled. The 4.5 years of extra maturation make themselves positively felt. Absolute grenade. For the 90 it is not quite enough for me. I award 89 just as with my previous reference the Wilp Parrot DOK (RX4760). Now comes the TRC DOK Mai Tai 🇯🇲

Der DOK bleibt noch in erträglichen Grenzen. Ist dabei süßlich frisch. Alkohol top integriert.

Wow, was man so alles in seiner Samplekiste äh Sampelwagen findet.

Blind DOK Tasting - 5th place. It’s a good rum, with a cool green apple note in the nose and on the palate. All in all it’s a bit spicier and more astringend on the tongue than the other DOK’s. The finish is quite a bit sweet with notes of caramel, honey, marzipan🤤.

Amazing nose - almost to „nice“ thinking of DOK. Very nice in the palate as well. Top bottling.

Wow, a Hampden as it is written in the book, thanks SaibotZtar for the sample. What can I say, tropical fruits, especially pineapple, but we also have a lot of esters here. Apart from that, some glue, a more funky rum.

Great Hampden, that we are handling a DOK becomes clear at the very moment of uncorking the bottle. The nose is funky, fruity and still quite balanced. Some spices (aniseed, baking spices, chestnut) and tropical fruits are inviting for a first sip. On the palate you also find most of it but there is a harsh astringent dryness that overwhelms everything. Too bad. But at 64,5% there is clearly some room for water. But on a side note, the alcohol is barely noticeable and integrated very well. Now let’s see…and here we are, it gets clearer and way more balanced. Some vanilla is coming through which becomes a tonal bean in the finish Around 50% I am rating it a 9.0. At cask strength this would be a 8.6-8.7.

Jamaika at its best.

Very nice DOK, the additional years in the barrel convince me a little more compared to the sister bottling.
