CDI T.D.L Trinidad (Bottled for Premium Spirits) 2006
Cool eucalyptus mint over salty, herbal, faintly chocolatey wood — that's the heart of this 15-year TDL from Compagnie des Indes. Several tasters were fooled blind, saying it smells more like Belize coconut than Trinidad, with sweeter fruit and toffee up front. The catch most agree on: at 60.6% the alcohol sits a bit proud and really wants air and time to settle.

How does CDI T.D.L Trinidad (Bottled for Premium Spirits) 2006 taste?
Aggregated from 35 community reviews.
Salty, minty Trinidad with hot alcohol Divisive TDL. Fans love the salty-minty, herbal profile and blind-tasting intrigue; the recurring gripe is hot, not-fully-integrated alcohol and, for some, less mint and depth than older TDL vintages.

Blind Tasting. Smells not at all like T.D.L, more like Belize (coconut). On the palate bear strong, massive herbs, slightly chocolaty. The alcohol could definitely be better integrated. This is no ordinary rum, but one that demands everything from the connoisseur. That's why the rating is quite tricky. Because of this stunning taste, I still give it 88 points (which could change again quickly at another tasting, however, so difficult is the rum 🤷♂️).

Strange, not what I am used to be from Trinidad. It is faint to the nose, needs a bit water and time in the glass. A bit sweeter, some wood influence, the rum itself is of a lighter version. Fruity on the tongue at the beginning, which fades fast however into sweetness, and then onto some fresh notes, maybe herbs. Wood and malt in the finish, a bit sharp in the burn but acceptable.

Durchschnittlicher TDL mit süßem ungewöhnlichen Profil. Tolles PLV Blindtasting
Review by Tschusikowsky

Indeed, at least from the nose I wouldn't have guessed TDL: At the beginning, the alcohol bites a little. Then comes a soft, almost too artificial sweetness. Vanilla with coconut milk and banana, mixed with cream toffee and scented peach. With the light smoky note behind it, it seems more like a Foursquare. Unusual here. Doesn't quite fit into the picture for me. 7,7 Palate: the TDL comes to the fore here. Powerful at the beginning with a bitter and salty sharpness. This is followed by the typical fresh mint, which replaces the bitterness. It goes well together. I like it better than the nose. 8.1 But then I can't pick it up overall. Neither fish nor meat.

Relativ langweiliger TDL. Über den 2001-2003 Jahrgang kommt einfach nichts.
