Diamond The Nectar Of The Daily Drams SV 2001

Dark chocolate, mocha and roasted coffee run from first sniff to finish, with prunes, apricot and a little leather rounding it out. This 21-year Diamond SV drinks smooth and rounded, the 50.2% barely showing. Several tasters call it a touch one-dimensional and short on depth, but many like it precisely for that honest, dark simplicity.

How does Diamond The Nectar Of The Daily Drams SV 2001 taste?

Aggregated from 45 community reviews.

Dark, roasty Diamond heavy on coffee and cocoa A dark, roasty Guyana most people find rounded and easy to sip. The recurring catch: coffee and cocoa dominate and depth is thin, so it can feel a bit one-note.

Perfect for

Fans of dark, roasty Demerara and coffee-cocoa profiles

Another super 2001 SWR! This one is a little less complex than my spoiled palate knows from other similar bottlings, but it hits the spot with what it has. Leather, dark chocolate and espresso. All nicely rounded without bitter wood notes.

Rich dried fruits and some citrus jelly notes on the nose. Compared to the SBS bottling (RX15510) the nose is more fruit forwards, while the SBS is a bit harsher with more leathery and grainy notes. I get a strong menthol note on the palate, which I couldn’t find in any of the 2001 SWRs, but also on the SBS 2001 SV bottling. Those are overpowering some of the nice caramel and fruit notes. Side-by-side with the SBS SV, the Nectar is more round and elegant on the palate as well as in the nose. More dried fruits versus a bit more burnt and dark notes in the SBS.

I find it very similar to the many existing 2001 SWRs. Compared to the SWR, it is a bit more delicate, less molasses/malt note, less depth, less complexity. Still a good drop!

Incredibly present chocolate and coffee notes from start to finish. Yes, beyond that not much else, in fact not very complex, but I like the rum precisely because of this honest one-dimensionality. A rum that does not demand too much, but most will taste very good, because it seems round and you just maybe not every day rum with all sorts of rough edges can and will drink.Recommendation.

On the nose, strong memories of a REV - but with less plum and a lot of cappuccino. On the palate toasty, caramel and just very tasty. Great roasted notes without becoming too bitter. Very good Guyana rum!

8,6:On the nose, it starts quite dark with roasted wood notes like cocoa, nuts, leather, cappuccino, spicy with vanilla and dried fruits like prunes, apricots and cherry. On aeration, we have caramelized burnt sugar, some smokiness, vegetal aspect of this Demerara, slightly floral and some citrus notes. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is tasty with dark roasted wood notes like mocha, leather, later caramelized burnt sugar and dried fruits like raisins, apricots and prunes. There are oaky vanilla and nuts, herbaceous molasses, dark chocolate from roastedness and citrus, cherry tones. 8,4:The finish is long, dry and tannic, dark, with palate notes lingering on, maggi pops out, spoiling a little the balance from before...

Oh i sometimes fear those young-ish licqorice Demeraras. But this one works just fine. Potent and strong, but really keeping a complex elegancy. I really like this thingy a lot. The palate comes with more burned sugars and a lovely brandy touch.
