Don Papa Gayuma
Smoke and peat in a Filipino molasses rum — that's the surprise here, and it's exactly what splits people. Some catch roasted oak, vanilla, chocolate and raisin with a smoky, orange-tinged finish and enjoy it; others taste cough syrup and call the peat barely there. One tester summed the mood up simply: "Rum talks no4." A sweet rum that leans whisky more than tropical.

How does Don Papa Gayuma taste?
Aggregated from 44 community reviews.
Sweet, smoky rum that drinks like whisky Genuinely divisive. Fans get chocolate, smoke and roasted wood; critics find it sweet, syrupy and unconvincing as a rum. The Islay-cask smoke either works for you or doesn't.

Fanta in Islay barrel... Terrible...
Review by heckto🥃
You can tell it has spent time in bourbon barrels. Toasted wood, vanilla and fruit dominate - chocolate and menthol in the background. One of the stronger Don Papas with a peaty finish.

#6444 Not too bad and this is a smoky rum. Light on the fruit and spices but still OK. A sweet rum that I think will do well as a dessert rum. Wonder how this one would do in a rum'n'coke 🤔

To be honest, I don't think this Don Papa is that bad. It really tastes very fruity, but delicious, the woody and smoky flavor goes a bit too far, but still really okay this rum.

Quite surprised by this profile, there are clearly some interesting things, it's a shame they added 18gr of sugar, and that the finish is so short. But otherwise nice notes of peat, leather, a touch of menthol.

Here's the definition of undrinkable for me. Cough syrup, and non-existent peat. Maybe a flaw on the bottle. I dream of having someone blind taste this for me one day.

Dvě složky co by mohli dávat smysl a presto tohle vlastně zde vubec nefunguje. Sice to není tak sladké jak by na papu mohlo být. Ale je to divny

Erster Eindruck - definitiv zu holzig aber dann wirds ganz angenehm. Dafür das ich den Geschmack eigentlich gar nicht mag erstaunlich gut
Review by Aschi Nottu 🇨🇭
